AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Fuel for fun :D

I'll never forgive H for telling me that a 680 was faster in sleeping dogs than my 7970. Yes i hold a grudge. :D

EDIT

RE the debate above me...

AMD very much marketed the 7990 vs a titan as it was cheaper and faster, now considerably so. Putting aside the fact its a dual gpu of course.

We normally address what we call the ultra-enthusiast segment with a dual-GPU offering like the 7990. So this next-generation line is targeting more of the enthusiast market versus the ultra-enthusiast one.

MAINGEAR proved that CrossFired 7990s is a perfectly viable option for enthusiast gamers. It’s a solution they’ve been shipping to the market for awhile. With regards to performance, we’ve already released the AMD Catalyst 13.8 driver which addresses the frame pacing concerns outlined in that article. I think we’ve done an excellent job of addressing everything in that article. Today the 7990 is unequivocally the fastest video graphics card on the market.

They "H" said 7970 was faster than a 770 also.
Just for those nvidia fans to take note ;)

I would assume if AMD says so, we will se an AMD chart with Titan that does it with some % and still, if its that fast and prices at 650 or whatever the 780 goes for in the world, well, talk about buzz and a winner and change of perception for amd.

I'll never forget Orangey's quote. :D

I think they will have "corporate weasel benchmarks" that proclaim masses of bungholiomarks in some proprietary/custom demos (TressFX), possibly featuring the classic polygonal pinup Ruby (as per invite card :D)

I look forward to seeing what flaws paid arm of Nvidia marketing can find with Hawaii ala pcper.

Oh you were? Ok so i must have psychic powers then.

It doesn't matter, When its in a price bracket that's moronic then it simply doesn't matter.

lol... come one... he said outright 'single GPU' in his post. Psychic's need not apply :D ;)

Been so long out of the gpu market that I know nothing about the performance for these. My GTX 480 is doing absolutely fine at 1920*1200 :-) It's my CPU that holds it back. I'll be defo interested in reading the reviews though.. my inner geek is out again.

Nvidia:
oh no its faster than Titan?
CEO: goes on a rage and flings all the woodscrews around in his office.
Special Meeting: Black Ops Ninja squad the dwarfs rule forever in session.
Points: Its faster than Titan but AMD use their own chart we will print a different chart replace their chart with our superb Ninja dwarf are short squads help.
Headlines in hawaii: A black Ops team was captured at the airport after being mistaken for actors in a new fantasy show and when they turned into ninjas the five-0 team with commander Mcgarret took them down hard.

The weather is sunny and shiny in Hawaii.
All red and go.:D

One day to go

Thought it was the 25th today, wasted an hour looking for some info haha :)

I hope these cards are as good as what they say they are, and at a reasonable price.

I'm glad if AMD Radeon R9-290X ends out being faster than 780/Titan, because then I know there will be a reason to get Maxwell !.

a year from now and then amd beats them again.:D
oh have faith as we dont want people to be quoting star wars again.

On a more serious note, drivers might been improved and held back to the show.
the suspense is ongoing

Heheh yea :D... my point was only that I'm happy with progress is being made and companies drive each other further - and it doesn't matter if it is AMD or nVidia. It's just these types of "threads" we have with every release, X will beat Y etc.

I hate to see what happened to the CPU market happen to the GPU !.

CPUs are a joke now for multi GPUs

If anyone has a SB or SB-E i7 it would be a very good move to hang onto it for when 20nm gets here for GPUs. The low clockspeeds on the latest 4770k, 4930k and 4960x will bottleneck a couple of next gen GPUs even if they run a little bit more efficient than SB.

How so? I thought clock for clock Haswell is about 10-15% quicker than SB, Making a 4.6 haswell OC comparable to a 4.9-5.0 SB oc..

I noticed a small bump in performance in a couple games, bf3 & crysis3, going from a 2500k 5.0 to a 4770k at 4.6

Thats a best case scenario your talking about where software is optimised.

The gains you seen going from a 2500k to 4770K is going to be down to hyperthreading and not clock speed ;)
