AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

It doesn't make sense at all. AMD will sell plenty of these cards whatever the price is, and so would NV. What recent history has shown us is that enthusiasts will pay top dollar for anything, look what people paid for the Titan.

All the people who want/wanted a £500 card did not all buy a 780.

You're saying it doesn't make sense and then waffling about stuff which has nothing to do with the explanation as to why it makes sense that I provided.

The point is that AMD can't sell as many cards as NVIDIA at a top end price point. Rightly or wrongly this is currently the case. I don't think anybody has ever made the point that AMD won't sell any cards at all or a teeny amount. Of course they'll still sell but it isn't a black/white argument on whether they will sell or not it's about profit.

Getting up to near 100C is pretty damn toasty, however the fan doesn't seem to be speeding up to anywhere near maximum, presumably an issue with GPUz reporting or drivers

Not sure what all that mess was, so I just snipped it and will go back to my point that you originally quoted me on and remember it is my thoughts and not the thoughts of everyone.

end from me on the pricing subject.

You mean you couldn't come up with any answers. It's fine to accept your point was nonsense.

AMD will sell plenty of r290x's whether they're £500 or not, and whether you like it or not.

You are right, I couldn't come up with an answer because I couldn't make head nor tail of that post.

You are more than welcome to dismiss my post as nonsense. I am positive it will sell if they charged a grand for it but it is the volumes that sell is the worrying aspect in my opinion.

Edit:

It isn't even worrying, it is down to AMD what they charge and deem acceptable in sales. I have nothing but admiration for AMD and Nvidia and enjoy their products very much :)

1000 posts and 12 months reg I think although lately I seem to see a few people with less than 1000 posts sellng and buying stuff. Not sure how that works

If you qualified under the old system, it wasn't taken away when it was changed to the new system.

So a lot of oldies who didn't post much are able to buy/sell.
