AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Cheers for the info matt ;)

Seems the 280X will be getting returned asap.

looks like i'll have to wait for one of these now.

Seems like it does have a Dual Link DVI after all mate. At least according to what i found here.

Hot off the press Mr PG Tips

MSI has gone with its own design for the card's outputs, with the standard combination replaced with two mini-DisplayPorts, a dual-link DVI-I and an HDMI connection.

Well at least it has one dual link DVI for 1440p/1600p. That's all i use, but i only have one screen.

Dunno what they are going to do with BF4 but wouldn't suprise me if theres not much performance difference up through low->high settings and then they add an "ultra extreme" setting level that basically turns the effects upto 11 and cripples anything thats not using GCN w/ Mantle.

As much id like to see that ill be amazed if its true. Can't wait to find out though.

Got a sneaky look at a more legitimate review. It's since vanished. Seems to be good news for gamers, 290X seems to be generally around 10% faster than Titan but trading blows on some things. With power consumption only a bit more than 7970. Competition is good, now bring on the 780ti !

Check your cache or browser history Broomstick, asap!

I find some of the comments below the leaked results calling the foul on the results, make no sense etc based on the logic that there's no way 3 Way SLI Titan would be no faster than a single 290X so funny...if they are referring to the 3 digit figures frame rate results, clearly they don't know what CPU bounded/bottleneck is :p

Any result that shows a 290X performing well is clearly false. :D

Actually part of me hopes it is. I'll be disappointed to find out its faster than what i have now. :(

Agreed couldn't give a monkeys about synthetic benchmarks, can't even remember the last time I ran one, don't even think I checked my 780 with 3dmark or anything.

Game performance is all that matters.

Exactly.

Also benchmarks are always indicative on gaming performance..

Not really. As a brief example i just scored 50% higher than Gregs Titan on Tomb Raider with my 2x7950's. Yet you look at any of the synthetic benchmarks and our scores are very close. Infact i think on some Greg even beats my scores. Admittedly a lot of my scores are out of date and on old drivers but the point remains.

To you. Some people like benching as well. Also benchmarks are always indicative of gaming performance..

Nice to see my old 780 at the top of the stack, faster than 7970 crossfire. Yeaaah boi.

LOL. I want one of Broomsticks GPU's. They're always the fastest around and never drop below 60fps. :D :p

The more I see things like this the more I realise I need to upgrade my PSU and get 2 cards. As good as it may be, one is not going to suffice on 1440p I doubt.

I wouldn't recommend any lower than 2x7950's at 1440p. Even they need a bit more grunt really. If you overclock them to 1100/1500 you're looking at stock 7970 ghz crossfire performance though. Even then id still like more. :D

Are you a 1440p gamer? Another option is 280X CF as I was impressed by the value of that setup. I just need all the cards to be out so I can make my mind up, I keep going round in circles.

I am indeed. I'd grab a 280X crossfire setup now if i was looking. Will have a bit more grunt than my setup. I guess this gives me another chance to shamelessly plug my 13.10 beta 1440p benchmark thread. Might be of interest to you Noxia. :)

I'm going to run some new benchmarks and will publish them here once my w8.1 install is complete. I believe the 290X drivers, (13.11 beta) add some nice performance gains to synthetic+game benchmarks.

Thank you, I will have a read of that now. OOS on those MSI cards, I should have bitten yesterday, could always RMA as they wouldn't have been opened until next week anyway. Those benches look really good, I have a new CPU (4770k at 4.4) I don't know how much difference that makes as I don't understand much about CPU performance other than the clock speed! I presume I would get slightly higher.

That cpu will be great for dual gpu.

If I can get a Hynix/Samsung-equipped 290 I might rig up a cold air duct to the window and have a go at beating Matt's 7950s. :D

I won't go down without a fight. Although i will accept defeat at the hands of a 290X a little easier than i will a titan. :D

After reading my statement seemed a bit stupid but will the BF4 engine in theory be mantlleised ( new word ! ) meaning other developers could take advantage of it ?

I can see that catching on around here as aa buzzword, 'mantlleised'. Just like PEBKAC, conjecture, fallacy, tangent, etc. :D

I only give Valley time of day because i like the music. I do like a bit of firestrike as well, seeing as i won my copy via a competition. Other than that i find them rather tedious.
