Tomorrow while NVIDIA host many of the biggest names in tech media at an event in Montreal, Canada, AMD will be hosting a smaller event a at the Hilton Bonaventure hotel just down the road. The event will be based around the company's new Radeon R9 290X GPU and is open to the public.

You know when you see small newsagents next to a brand new massive supermarket, and you feel a little sorry for them.

Yeah. lol. Just lift the NDA already for christ sake.

I cant say i'm impressed or even interested, 4k is still a few years away in terms of a standard and general consumer retailing, by then the r9-290x will be a generation or two old , the Hawaii gpu will probably be the basis for very mid range entry cards and the Tahiti low end (or god knows).

All the consumers want to know are when we can buy it and what the sodding price is, is that really too much to ask ? but instead we get a load of penis pulling between Amd and Nvidia.

Who really cares about 4k gaming (yet) yeah i'm interested for it in the future but right now its just not what i'd market the card for if i were Amd.

Just stop all the ******** and release the ****ing card !

It's quite funny when you consider their stance is performance for reasonable prices...

"Check out these £2,500 monitors!"

Where is the angle.

I just want to see some solid figures so I can know whether to keep my pre-orders.

I know I said earlier that I couldn't wait to see how the red team try to spin the newest non delaying delay, but I would have never of thought that after a rumour of the cards running quite hot, we would have got some world weather reports and comments about how hot it is in china.

Should be quite cool in Montreal tomorrow, well until AMD start their demo anyway.:D

Are AMD chickening out

If you’re in Montreal tomorrow you can get a sneak peak at the upcoming AMD Radeon HD R9 290X video card running on a 4K monitor! AMD will be hosting a public event at the Hilton Bonaventure hotel in the Jacques-Cartier meeting room in downtown Montreal, Canada. There is an open door policy in the afternoon for gamers between 3pm to 8pm that would like to get a true hands-on gaming experience with the new ‘Hawaii’ powered GPU. AMD informed us that they will have systems running both the AMD Radeon R9 290X and the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 780, so you can do some comparisons when you are there. AMD will be running “Bioshock Infinite” at 4K resolutions during the event.

Get some Titans in there and overclock everything.:D

I also notice AMD are comparing a 4gb card to a 3gb card @4k, talk about stacking the deck lol.:D

lol Kaap. Maybe the only reason it's open to the public is because they're demoing them out in the street :D.

Ok enough **** taking.

Edit: Yeah I noticed that too, why not use the Titan. I know it's 780 competition but if it's so much better value why not show how off just how much.

I always find it funny that people get upset that a product has an intended date and launch, and that people find out about the rough time it's coming out then get upset they aren't told about it earlier.

If AMD told us about this card three weeks earlier... we'd simply have found out about that three week earlier date as the rough time they'd talk about it, and the hype would START three weeks earlier, and we'd be in the same situation.

AMD have a date in mind to launch a card that is pretty closely tied to when the card is actually ready to be launched shockingly. The industry gets a rough idea, leaks a little information and generally speaking, Nvidia go into PR overdrive mode and seemingly release disinformation to rile everyone up.

The date AMD launch is irrelevant, people would still leak small bits of info, Nvidia would still do their thing, fanboys would still get themselves all upset over not knowing exactly what it is and they'll build themselves up into a frenzy demanding to be told information. If the original date was late November, the level of frenzy in said people would build up towards the end of November, if it was three months earlier, this same thread would just be at this point 3 months ago.

Every launch without fail there have been utterly made up dates, if the top end card is first, last, in the middle, while these threads are full of people reacting to made up dates and posting about being let down over a made up date they talked themselves into believing was a release date.... honestly it makes for embarrassing reading.

honestly it makes for embarrassing reading.

Lol. It sure does. Sit back and watch from the sidelines.

Tommy did make me laugh though with this. :D

That smiley face gets my everytime.

That hitler video was great btw. Props to whoever did it. The part about Broomstick and 60fps at all times raised a smile. :D

I might have to do one of those. :D
