AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Works both ways, the ones hyping the 290x up are the ones posting about the nvidia announcements saying it's nothing special.

Not really.

Its basically the following:
1.)Nvidia has launched another salvage part,ie,a GTX780TI
2.)AMD is *****,doomed, the R9 series is a load of rubbush fail already
3.)Nvidia has better features
4.)AMD has less features
5.)Nvidia is more reliable
6.)Nvidia can charge what they want for the GTX780TI
7.)AMD has to charge less than any Nvidia card even if they are faster than a GTX780/GTX780TI/GTX9808358435830

Same all ******** arguments we have had for the last 2 years. It was the same with the HD7970,HD7950 and GTX580. It was the same with the HD5850 and HD5870. In fact anytime AMD has managed to get to challenge the top GPU spot, you get all the same retarded arguments due to threatened E-PEEN.

Those ****tards have made me and my mate feel ashamed to have gone Nvidia this time around.

Its funny for all their bitching and moaning about the R9 series, that Nvidia has now had to counter with another launch.

At this point I really want Intel or at least a 3rd player to come along.

Cool story bro, no one cares about you or your mate unfortunately, banter is thrown both ways but it seems some people only see 1 side of it.

The sceptic in me now thinks that AMD got wind that Nvidia had the 780Ti lined up and knew that the 290X wouldn't be on the shelves before it was announced. So they cooked up this pre-order scheme to try to commit people into purchasing their card

I know OcUK are offering a back-out but other retailers may not be so flexible. Also some people will think sod it and go through with the purchase anyway.

Worth considering, though I feel most pre-ordering something which even now isn't out of NDA would have done so regardless. It takes blind faith to buy something which the cost of isn't revealed nor how it'll perform exactly (not suggesting it would perform badly).

If AMD knew about the upcoming 780Ti, then why wait and stumble people with a choice? Surely it'd make sense to bring it to market sooner rather than give the competition chance to compete you with directly.

But I'm no expert, I'm sure they had reasons :)

290x Mantle and trueaudio, new tech vs old tech 780 and such and not so good future.
I know I go with newer tech like 290 series as it allows me an increased range of options.

amd is putting screws and pressure and they have a 7 year or so to put down the hammer in gaming. thats a long time.

you can always cancel and get a full refund by law from any uk etailer. :)

Can you pair a 290x with a 7990? According to some sites you can pair a 7970 with a 280x but im guessing because the 290x is not the same architechture you cant? So in other words could you pair a toxic OC 280x with the 7990 or would it just make more sense to get a 7970 or 7950?

mmm well 780Ti announcement has delayed any decision I make until that comes out

would be silly otherwise- I mean it may make the 780 £400 odd or a Titan esque 780 at £500 - maybe

What a load of ****
