We know little if anything about Mantle yet so why he would base his decision on that is strange.
True Audio = 3D sound with marketing name
You asked for AMD exclusive features and I listed two of them. You don't get to say "they don't count because I don't like them". Other people might consider them important to their requirements.
These are only your opinions on Mantle and True Audio, your opinion does not = fact. Just because you feel these aren't worthy features does not make it true, nor does it exclude them as features exclusive to AMD GPUs. I dislike GPU Phyx, I have a GTX780 and I honestly think GPU PhysX detracts from my gameplay experience because of all the extra unrealistic debris that disappears in front of my eyes. Though I recognise it is a feature unique to Nvidia and as such other individuals may consider it to be a vital requirement.
cant they buy trousers that fit

a lot of the gaming we do today wouldn't have been possible without the break throughs he has made over the years its easy not to see the knock on effects of his work and the progress in other areas of gaming thats enabled.
While TrueAudio may not be technically graphics related (other than it's an AMD graphics card feature) I do see it as something I hope gets embraced by developers so that we can finally have the awesome A3D quality/style positional 3D sounds that we used to have all those years ago and better.
I do fear that unless the next gen consoles have some version of it, it may not get very widely adopted.
It seems the R9 290 and R9 290X webpages are up on Newegg, but with no pricing.
2 features wow, one of them having nothing to do with graphics. I didn't say they didn't count either, but over the last couple of days nvidia have shown features that I think benefit games and gamers more than some fancy audio and a low level console style API that we know nothing about yet other than it will net you better performance. At least nvidia bothered to explain and show their new technology off during the conference.
