It's a good possibility i will get one next year as my pc needs refreshed. Full build pretty much but for now am not gaming enough to really justify it to the woman as it's gonna be a ps4 for my Christmas. When i say christmas i mean day of release lol.

The r9 does seem to come up short on the synthetics but i think it was similar with the 7970 which only gained parity with the gtx680 later on. Think heaven was the only benchmark which the 7970 was stronger in.

Good shout and I will probably get a PS4 also. Not sure how long 20nm is away and with plenty of conflicting reports, it could be as early as spring or as late as 2015. At least with the 290X out, there is plenty of choice and plenty of GPPU's at good prices if you don't need the fastest.

Yea i used to always get a top end gpu when i was playing fps in leagues but these days it's only a bit of fun for me now and again. I play eve online mostly and my system still pulls over 100fps no bother so my need to have the best are much lower than before. The i7 920 at 4ghz is still a pretty good gaming cpu for 1 gpu so its not really showing its age atm, probably the best cpu ever made imo.

They really should do a beefier version of the His Ice-Q blower. Two of those on 290X's in crossfire would be great. Very quiet and a fair bit cooler than reference. Obviously it won't be able to handle extreme overclocks, but thats what water is for.

You pre-ordered the PS4 mate? Ive pre-ordered both the new consoles but I missed the cut off point for the PS4 so I wont get one on launch day. Should get it before xmas though. Dont even know why Im buying them to be honest as I only ever play on the PC :D

I have the same memory IC's on mine, its a shame the 7870XT did come with Memory voltage unlocked like the 79## series, I would love to get ~1900Mhz out of it.

Cancel the xbox one order as it's much weaker and tbh apart from the odd game the ps4 will have the exact same games. This gen i went xbox360 and only got a ps3 a few years back just because the ps3 only games were better.

Nah not ordered and will pick one up at some stage but not in a rush at all. It will only go in the bedroom and handy for a quick blast on a racer or similar.
