Same here, had a PS4 pre-ordered but cancelled it, will probably grab one a few years down the line when hardware is cheaper and a few decent exclusives out. Between me and the kids we have so many gaming devices that we really don't need anything else lol. The latest new shiny thing is always tempting though. I might need to hide the credit card when 290X and 780ti get released...

Whilst you may not be bothered about it Thats no reason for me to cancel is it dude? ;)

I know what Im buying and what the dif is (or lack of) but I fancy both of them. My wife likes kinect and im selling the 360 plus I really want to play destiny :)

Yeah we all have our hobbies, if gaming is your main one doesn't hurt to throw money at it. The developers will be able to keep on bringing the stuff out that gamers like lol. In our household we have most of the consoles, except the upcoming Xbone and PS4, I'm determined to resist and save the money until their cheaper later on. Realistically just wouldn't have time to play them anyway. Any time I do get to relax to myself is usually spent on PC.. Must resist PS4 lol.

PS4 and xBox One have an AMD CPU and GPU in it, does that help you resist? :D

Lol, no it really doesn't :). I think the design on the PS4 is awesome (I know the Xbone is similar just less powerful). The games coming out on those systems in a few years will be stunning, but alas I must stop my spending on new shiny things... We picked up a Vita the other day, that is my last game console purchase for the next few years I tells ya.

In the meantime will build up a collection of PS4 games via PlayStation Plus and then jump in later on when the hardware is cheaper..

I might pick up a PS4 for Gran Turismo, I absolutely adore that game, have done ever since it was launched on the PSX back in the mid 90's

Would these VRAM chips have been bought at pre-fire prices or are we going to have to pay a shortage tax on launch 290s on top of the normal gouging?

Or will they just use any excuse to up the price, even if the fire wasn't that bad?

Ahh the master detective, well done ! , however .... whilst i'm not innocent in posting the odd amusing reply this particular thread keeps deviating WAY off topic to the point that i go away for 10 mins and end up trawling through pages and pages of either nvidia vs amd penis pulling or discussions about 1440p monitors and consoles. It could probably be condensed into 50 pages of actual 290x feedback and discussion.
 
I'm freezing here, i wish this 290 would come out so i don't have to get the boiler fixed.

Apparently we are in for the worse British winter for a century! Might have to crossfire these things if that's the case!
