AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

During this time also, the onboard network adapter on my motherboard ceased to work anymore.

I don't really know what to think about it. Part of me thinks its the motherboard because of a few recent issues (soundcard intermittently, getting stuck in boot loops as soon as I touch the voltage to overclock, onboard lan breaking). But then I wonder why is it working right now with my 7970? The model of the board is Gigabyte Z68AP-D3.

Does anyone have any suggestions or pearls of wisdom for me? Please! lol :D

Had the same fault a few years ago with a different Gigabyte board and network adapter.

Fixed it by:
Power off PC
Remove PSU mains lead or switch off at the wall
Power on PC to drain power from PSU
Plug in PSU mains lead
Power up PC

Network adapter was back.

This happend twice over several years and the above method fixed it.

anyone using windows 10? if so which driver is working best for ya?

upgraded cpu decided i'd give 10 a whack as I had it on a pendrive but firestrike has lost 6000 on gpu score :o

i think my 295 might be dead!

Quick someone says lots of things to make me feel better :(

Sorry to hear that. What exactly happened?

You never got back to me regarding the OCCT test, did you bother running it? No point running a card overclocked when it is erroring. Most people don't bother checking this, they are happy as long their overclock does not crash or produce visual anomalies.

Well i don't know to be honest, playing GTA Saturday night, for about 4/5 hours then went to sleep, woke up few hours later went to install the 295 in the new rig, didn't work, no display no nothing!

ahh yeah the OCCT i tested it for about 1 hour, had to back off the memory clock to 1550, its been sitting there rock solid since no errors no crashes nothing

Very strange. Did you try the card back in the old rig after?

I got it second hand, not sure if warranty transfer over :(

Didn't really wanna drop £1K on another set of cards

Contact the person you got it from, hopefully he can arrange for it to be replaced. It will be under warranty as they came with 2 years warranty and the card has only been out for 15 month.

Can't lose anything by asking. Bit of a gamble going second hand with regards to warranty, but it can be mitigated a bit by asking the person you are buying from if they would be happy to help. I got mine from members market and I know if anything goes wrong the guy I got it from would be happy to help me out.

That said the guy I purchased my previous graphics card (7970) from on the members market said he would help and then turned a blind eye and avoided me after. He rightly got perma banned for it. Why say you are happy to help when you have no intention of doing so? Don't get some people.

Yaa I've contacted the guy who originally bought it, hoping he will help out

Well, i like to touch things lol

i can run 1000/1500 at -75mv under clocked, like this has been tested over days and days of gaming.

i can run at 1200/1600 at +65mv overclocked

So id like to get these settings dialled in the BOIS, used to do it to my nVidia cards so was just under the assumption someone would have made a BIOS editor for this

+65mv at 1200 core is too much tbh for the AIO to keep up. I run 1100/1625 at +10mv and runs cool.

I just left mine on stock. It is fast enough as it is and the overclock on this card I do not think will yield much performance so not worth the extra heat and noise I figured. I would have considered it if the radiator was a 280mm one like my cpu.

What noise? I have yet to see the card make any noise even if it hits 70C on the warm summer days.

The fans you have must be a hell of a lot more quieter than the two I have or you have better chips that seem to run cooler and hence need less cooling grunt.

I have two sp120 high performance editions. That said it not like even both are much more noisy compared to the stock xfx fan that I had.

I have never suffered from any noise louder than my case fans (which aren't all that loud at all) - with the stock fan or with the two SP120s that are on there now (using a custom fan curve upto 75C).

Get the feeling "noise" maybe a very subjective thing :p

I have petty good hearing from what i can tell as I tend to hear things most people I know cannot. However it could be other issues too, like maybe your watercooling system has better contact and paste between the gpu and cooler hence less need to ramp up. Could also be my cores run more hot as they are lower quality.

That said, to me once the fans spin up faster than 2000rpm, that to me is loud. These fans would need to remain under 1600rpm for me to say they are not loud. When I say loud I am not talking about jet engine or anything, just a lot louder than rest of my system fans.

When gaming in crossfire with taxing games, what rpm do you guys get?
