AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

That looks badass, love the colour scheme.

I have just had an idea for a new thread

We could have a thread where people post pics of their PCs showing off their graphics cards.

I think the way to do this would be similar to how I do a bench thread where I use the first 4 or 5 posts to host links to posts that people have made with pics of their PC/GPUs.

If there was separate sections for NVidia and AMD, also if it got popular I could also split it into families of cards.

What people would have to do is post a pic of their PC with the following information.

Which parts used
GPUs
CPU
RAM Make
RAM Speed
Case
PSU

All of the above could then be put into a table with links to the posts.

Would people be interested in something like this ?

That could turn out to be a lot of work Kaap , But yea I'll post in it. Not as nice as that one a couple of posts up though.
I ought to do some lighting of some sort really

quick question on these - with eyefinity can you have a 4th display still on separately?

(I currently use 3x1 5760x1200 surround on 690 with a 1080p as accessory)

Thanks

Paul

Oh for anyone getting a new 295X2. Ditch the mini-DisplayPort adapter. It wouldn't work on my swift, anything over 60hz gave DisplayPort failure. I got a proper cable and now it does 120hz just fine.

Yes it does. But not with an AMD card it seems, the screen goes crazy.

I will probably end up getting a FreeSync monitor once they show up. It sucks though that it seems we basically have to match the monitor to our graphics cards now too.

Other than no G-Sync support (ofc) and not being able to do 144hz, seems fine.

As I mentioned though (unless it was just mine) the mini displayport > displayport adapter only works at 60hz and sticks out from the back of the case so much!
Dump it and buy a proper mini dp > display port cable. Cost me £18 from Amazon (which was probably an over spend but I wanted to be sure) and 120hz is flawless now.

EDIT: Oh and you cant use the turbo button to change refresh rates on the fly. Sad times. I looked on the Asus forum and they basically blame AMD for it, saying they need to update their drivers or whathaveyou. I originally got my swift to run with NVIDIA cards but had a sudden and unexpected shift to red lol. I will probably be looking out for Freesync, cut my losses on the Swift and get something with that when it comes out.

Well I took delivery yesterday of 2 gigabyte 295x2 cards.

Uninstalled nvidia drivers first before putting new cards in and positioning the rads at the front of the case using them as intakes with the fans blowing cold air onto the rads.so far so good, powered the system up and installed latest amd beta drivers went into catalyst center and made sure crossfire is enabled but this is my first time using amd so ive probably missed some important setting.
Did a run of Heaven 4.0 and everything appearing to run fine so far.decided then to try a few games including bf4 and shadows of mordor but noticed a lot of stuttering which I thought was very odd for a setup like this.

Temps haven't so far got above 69c but for some reason in heaven and hw monitor its only showing the temps of one card as opposed to the 2 separate cards in crossfire.
I've gotta say so far I am not that impressed by these cards but I wouldn't be surprised if its down to something ive missed being a noob to amd and crossfire.

I'd really appreciate any advice anyone can give me that has some knowledge of crossfire and the correct way of setting it up ect.

Can you provide us with a bit more information, system specs, settings used etc. Which API are you using in Battlefield 4, DirectX or Mantle? Have you tried any other games?

A few things i would suggest to you is downloading MSI Afterburner and going into settings and disabling ULPS and enabling unified gpu usage monitoring.

I'd also recommend using the latest beta driver 14.11.2 if you're not already.

What resolution and quality are you at?

I think on maximum quality SoM uses an obscene amount of VRAM. Possibly more than 4GB.

Thanks Matt.i will follow your advice right after a fresh install of windows 8.1. I wouldn't be surprised if there are still some remnants of nvidia drivers lurking about.

Stuttering is normal on SoM, on max settings it uses more than 4.7gb of VRAM @1080p and 5.3gb @2160p.

The only thing I have seen it run smooth on is a 6gb Titan.
