AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Maybe this is the best place for this question

I'm looking to use 2 different fans for push and pull on a Radeon R9 295 X2.
The Rap will be at the front on the Corsair Graphite 760T case.

Are these fans ok? or would you recommend something else.
I want good pressure but not to loud.
Also i want the motherboard to control the fan speeds, if this is the best way?

Mine hit 72 and 74 but it's peak. After 6hrs of Dragon Age. The temp hovers around 68*c-69*c normally.

Could easily overclock for some benchmarks though. I can't imagine a few MHz would make a difference, I had some 290Xs that had a 1030mhz boost so I'm assuming they could do that at least.

Since its the same chip though. I'd imagine these should be able to still hit 95*c and be ok? In theory? It's strange that it's locked to 75*c. Would be nice to give it a bit of extra room. I'd go for 80. Maybe our AMDMatt knows why it's limit is 75 though. Perhaps its related to the liquid coolers thermal limits.

You can actually use Speedfan to link the mobo fan headers to react to the GPU temperature though.

Far too dangerous imo. What if it stops running or freezes temporarily?

Besides that, making it use the MB (or speedfan) wouldn't give much of a gain, as it is it already idles well enough and runs as high as it needs to.

I used Piranhas, Apaches, and Enermax Magmas.

I had the best cooling - silence ratio with the Magmas, while working at 75% speed. At 1100 overclock it never gets more than 60C, while the system is silent.

Hi,

Can you tell me the correct model number of them Enermax Magma please.
I'm after good cooling with less noise.

You think these will work http://www.enermax.co.uk/fans/magma-adv/
Cheers.

Yes, these are the better model than mine. I have the 1500rpm ones, at 50% speed, and I love them.

I also have 4 of these on the H100i.

I tried Apaches and Piranhas also. But they didn't left me happy, not only because of noise, but performance.

Out of interest how much better performance and noise did the 2 magmas give compared to the single stock fan? I've just ordered a 295x2 myself and wondering if it will be worth swapping the fan out.

watch out guys with these graphics card.
if your on stock cooling forget about overclocking once you hit 73-74c the card will throttle
and trust me no matter what you do will stop it..... might be ok in this weather but forget it in the summer.

full waterblock is needed if you intend to go 1100+

Thanks for the reply.
How do you control you're fans on you're radiator For the GPU.
Are you running push and pull, air coming in or out the case on the rad and also on you're H100i

I noticed the newer fans have a switch on them to change the speed.
I wonder if I can bypass this by controlling the fans via the motherboard and set at 50% also, if not I may get the older model.

Cheers.

Hello Everyone!

So I've got new build and put this beastly card I won in that killroy competition in and its SICK. It takes BF4 on ultra 140-180 fps on mantle, now sometimes on the other hand it gets HUGE frame drops to around 20 and this can happen several times, and it doesn't look like its triggered be levolution (obviously it happens either mid combat or while I'm diving on some ** Derogatory term removed ** tank with heli.), it gets quite annoying, anyone has any idea why ?
The card doesn't get over 65 degrees, I play on single 1080p/144hz.
I've got the beta 14.11.2 drivers, also on MSI afterburner it doesn't display fps/cpu temp/core usage in-game because of mantle, it works when switched to DX but than I get less fps (using perfowerlay.drawfps 1).

Thanks

What's the rest of your build?

i5 4690K stock + seidon aio water cooler
evga supernova 1000W
msi gaming 5 z97
16gb ddr 3 ram

Vincent well, you play on 4k so its more demanding...I only do 1080p
Also I have my heating of in my room and windows open most of the time cos I like to game in cold :) keeps my head from overheating and raging too much :D
