AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Dear God, all this card buying by Matt makes me want to buy another 295x2 NOW!!!!! :D :D :D

As an aside Matt, do you think my PSU would handle another?

edit - And if not, is TriFire a decent upgrade for high-resolutions? Am unsure of the gains tbh

Total system is 686w. I'll wait for Matt to answer, thanks.

(although you're probably right Shiari)

It's been done mate, these are binned 290X cards after all. However i honestly would recommend a minimum of a 1200W quality psu, just to be safe. :)

Btw, 2x295x'2 at stock -0.050v, 5960X @4ghz all gpu's at 99% usage in a Firestrike test pulling 1000-1050w from my 2000W PSU. :)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, that's *very* interesting!! Guess I won't have to buy your eVGA 1600w after all ;) :p

Well that's it then, if I find a s/h one I'll be giving it a try :D Will have to switch back to Air 540/Nice case with a window though, those shiny logos are sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D

Matt, just in case it doesn't then how does TriFire scale at high resolutions at the mo?

edit - Dear God, I *never* realised just HOW good 295x2 Crossfire scaling is at 4k  Godlike indeed

Definitely watching to see how you get on with these Matt I always had a suspicion I would add a second 295x2 when I got mine so went with a 1600w P2 when I got the first.

TriFire scales better than QuadFire at 4K but that's to be expected at any res really. :):

Good choice, 1600W will be plenty.

Well today i hope to get everything installed and manage all those pesky cables. Once that is done i can spend Fri/Sat/Sun testing, overclocking and probably reinstalling windows. Will definitely post updates and pictures here over the weekend. :)

Matt are you putting the cards in your 540 Air?
I'm thinking of getting the case if I do get a 295X2. Just wondering how the card copes in it.

I was going to Tom, but you'd have to put the rad in the rear. If you put it in the front, there won't be room to run push pull and the fact i have two 295x2's. I decided i needed a bigger case, so I'm about to to throw the Carbide 540 away. I was going to sell it, but not sure i can be bothered.

I now have a 750D which has lots of room so seems much better suited to the 295x2.

If you run one 295x2 and have the rad fan in the top rear, the 540 will be excellent for the 295x2.

I'd offer to buy but I'm a bit far away to collect it :p
The 750D is actually the other case I was looking at. It looks much nicer, but I do like the two compartments that the 540 has.

The 540 works really well, the only problem is it attracted a lot of dust i found, even with decent filters. But i guess that happens to every case really.

Both are nice cases, i like corsair cases in general i think. This will be the third one I've owned in a row and all had windows.

I'd say Tri-fire is a great option for 4k.

You still have to spend a fair amount but it gives you great results in Crossfire.

4 GPU's is obviously best, but then you need lots of room, big PSU, more noise etc etc.

Let me know how you get on.

I bought a couple of these today to replace the stock fan and run push pull. The idea is to get things as silent as possible.

I'm missing the reference cooler though, i won't lie. :p

Lovely setup you've got there Matt, would be very interested in your experience with those fans in terms of noise, performance and controlling them. I've not had any problems with mine but just feel leaving them as stock isn't right with such a special card :)

You need to vacuum more around your house mate :D
