AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

95% done. One of my red leds I bought from overclockers broke, so will order one or two more then I think I'm finished.

Going to call it The Red Baron. :p

Love it :D few questions mate please.

First of, @ 4k, how much Ram is the cards using in BF4? As i've not tried 4K yet (wating for good monitor to come out with Free sync) if over 4meg, with there be problems? what settings in BF4 you using for 4K.

2nd, Them fans you're using. what are you running them off? the cards 4pin wire with a y splitter? they running well mate ?

Cheers

4K BF4 Mantle uses more than 4GB, so if you have 4GB cards you'll need to disable AA or use high texture with x4 AA.

8Gb 290X cards run it maxed out without issue, uses about 5gb in Mantle.

I tried using a fan splitter, but neither fan worked. Not sure if it was not enough power or the fan splitter was just crap. The fan splitter had one three pin and one two pin, so not sure if that was too blame or the Noctua Industrial 2,000 rpm fans were too much for the 295x2 header.

In the end i connected the fans to my fan controller.

Called mine, The Radeon Lightning :D

Very nice. :)

Thanks.

Do you see much difference using high texture with x4 AA, compared to ultra texture with x4 AA @4k

Would you recommend them fans ?

Currently working on undervolting both 295x2's. Tried them at -0.100v and almost stable. Crashed with a driver error after 20 minutes of Cloud Gate. Retesting now with -0.094v, think either this of -0.090v will be stable. That's some undervolt!

What fan control you using Matt.
Are them fans sucking air in or out.

I just up the res on bf4 to 1600p. What a difference. Even with v.sync on it's so smooth.

What a difference 3 GPU's make.

My temps were 65. 66 on the 295x2, and 62 on the Lightning. I'm sure @ 4k it will rise.. that's Sucking air out. Maybe 2 fans sucking air in will be better.

Summer time it will get hot lol.
I haven't took the voltage down tho. Not sure I need to till I use 4k..

I've had Afterburner on for the whole day and max temp was 66 C and that was BF4 on ultra 1080p with stock fans,

Matt shouldn't the pipes be on the bottom ? and can you please explain what is that undervolting and what are the benefits ?

@up2nogooduk
You'll find that you can go to about 135-140% scaling (assuming your base res is 1080p) with full ultra/4xAA before you may start running into vram issues on the more demanding maps.
200% (4K) is perfectly doable if you disable AA. Looks great either way tbh.
ED: This is assuming Mantle usage. You may see lower usage with DX11.

@Smrtka
Undervolting is basically lowering the voltage of the gpu below stock settings, which means it uses less power and runs cooler as a result.

OK, so if my max temps are 68 there is no need to do so is it? I also wonder what are the temps with dual fan setup with the noctura fans... Isn't it very loud? :confused:
