AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

@AMDMatt
Im seeing the r9 295x2 being listed on retailers as directx 11.2 and not directX 12. Got any info on this?

@Everyone
Does dx 12 offer any new features that requires hardware support?

The radiator fan is meant to run at about 1800-2000RPM at full speed, can't say I ever notice the fan, so no idea how often it gets upto full speed! Considering how loud previous X2s have been, the 295x2 is glorious!

Shame, that's a bit loud, pretty much all 120mm fans are over my comfort threshold at 1100-1200RPM, there's no way I'd be putting up with 1800+

And some cards don't even advertise any DX support version, so they can't work at all...

Are you going anywhere with this? or are you just a fan of sarcasm..

One would expect that the listed feature is the higest version of that feature that is supported hardware wise. Im well aware that sometimes there isnt listed any DX version.

Retailers seem to be able to advertise how they like, just because some choose to advertise a certain version doesn't make it gospel.

Just google 295x2 DX12 support and see what you get, surely more reliable than trying to garner info from a bunch of retailers copy-paste adverts.

Probably been done to death but can someone clear up the PSU requirements?

Would a 750w with combined 62A on the 12v rail be sufficient?

Nope, that's really not recommended ... it basically leaves no room for the needs of the rest of the system. Your PSU is probably already not brand new anymore (and may not be great to start with), so it might also struggle to deliver a stable 750W as advertised. And doing that would really put a strain on the PSU - they shouldn't be used at max capacity for longer periods of time.

850W minimum, 1000W is a much safer bet. I know that my system can pull at least 720W, but I don't tend to watch the meter that closely so it could be higher.

Contemplating selling my 290s (since they either have to be spaced so far apart that its hits the performance or put them where performance is as expected and the temps are insane) and picking up one of these. I know waiting for the 390 might be a better move though however the budget wouldnt stretch to two so I imagine this would be a smarter move. Or am I really just throwing money at nothing?

What do they say about asssumption, something about it being 'the mother of all...

Said PSU:

I've seen benchmarks of 295X2s drawing a total system power of about 620-650w and that's running an overclocked i7, so the PSU requirements don't seem as black and white as suggested.

Quite a hit if you sell your 290's and go 295 I'd imagine.

Mine are cooled by MSI Dragon OE3-V298001 Aio's(H55's but cheaper) and Krakens, it works very well, throwing them into your Carbide using your H100 venting on top, and mount the rads on the front pushing air like so should drop the temps a lot:

I was under the impression that the krakens are too big to mount two without spacing the cards quite far apart
