AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

TBF, AMDs very own show had the 4080 being placed quite far ahead of the 4080 but falling short of the 4090, according to some here, amd wouldn't do such a thing and they hold more weight than what nvidia did..... But as HUB said, amd got no one to blame but themselves here, nvidia ada show was bad but this just proves amd took the **** even further with deceiving slides, key words of "up to" and so on.
The fact that they kept mentioning 8k gaming was abit of a red flag...

Its not awful, but 7900xtx needed to be $900 dollars.

Looks like we will have to wait for 7950xtxx to go for the AMD.

Yeah its really not bad at all, i mean queue the hyperbole...... did people expect it to beat the 4090 or do people just like stirring the BS pot too much?

There is always the 4080, you don't have to pretend its a desaster to justify buying that. We all know its what you wanted to do to all along.

Is there a filter available to remove the usual anti AMD fan brigade comments?

For me I've always said and I'll say it again, I want to know how it performs against previous gen AMD cards. So we're saying now that rasta on point with a 4080 and with 3090Ti equivalent RT performance? And no risk of fire?

Just the price really as many have mentioned.

Hardly a failure.

black screen during testing, crazy power spikes

at least if it sets on fire the screen will have some colour :p

Overall being able to compete with an RTX 4080 in non-ray tracing scenarios for less money will be attractive for some... Bit disappointing the increase in performance over last gen isn't as much as AMD said, and that power consumption is higher than a 4080...

Imo not a 'failure', but not as much of a success as might have been hoped either.

Will be interesting to see whether the AIB cards manage to get more than a few % extra out of it (which I guess they might do with higher power limits, but then that would make it even less efficient...)

Hmm,

I was looking to upgrade from a 1080, I was waiting for the AMD 7900 XTX...

I'm not sure how I feel, can someone tell me how I should feel about the performance/price?

If I can get one tomorrow I’ll buy it (before brain kicks in) trouble is that it’s a bit more tricky to get stuff at a reasonable price in Ireland post brexit

Again, will look at the price OCUK offers for the XTX tomorrow. If viable (since the 4080 is outside my power envelope budget), then the XTX will be got despite the performance. Since I'm jumping from a RX580.

However, if the price is not right (it needs to offer the performance but at an acceptable cost compared to previous gen), then a lower gen card will be sought instead. Since then I can upgrade the PSU and the GPU to a newer one a few more years down the line as well. Key thing here is; Options. :)

Right now, just waiting on tomorrow to see what choice is made for me. :)

Can see why Nvidia cancelled the 4080 12gb.. the 7900XT would blow it out the water.

Looks like there's still room for driver improvements - RT performance is a bit more mixed than usual - some titles the cards are 3090 levels of performance, others they're more like 3080. If they can work on the latter to bring them to 3090 then that's more than enough RT for me for now.

Worrying drop off at 4K for the XT though, bit nervous that the 7800 will cut the cache too much further and hamper 1440p performance.. though the difference in requirements is quite large so maybe not an issue.
