AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

All things considered, having looked at reviews and comparing with Nvidia's cards.. GPU prices are still insane and I guess I am using my RTX 3070 for another year. Saves me money so it's a win, thanks AMD and Nvidia :)
Reminds me of Pascal, went from a 1070 to this 3080 because of how good the price/performance was/is. Give it another few years and we'll see another decent generation, Pascal to Tuning was a let down.

Don't forget 4080 also has these pros which may be important for some or not at all:

- better streaming/recording
- cuda
- lower power consumption and better efficiency (especially in RT)
- dlss IQ and uptake
- frame generation

Either way, both are still overpriced.

inb4 but but but

"only 2 year warranty"

I agree generally but Frame Generation is rubbish and a negative unless you want to win in bar chart comparisons. Othwise yes and DLSS is neutral as don't use either that or FSR. Both are less IQ and not good to use.

Why does the XT model exist at this point? Who's buying this just for 100 cheaper?

It's going to be a rough road ahead if the delta between a 4080 and XTX is around 100. Who's got 1k to spend but won't stretch by another 100 for a more well featured card and platform stability.

The good news is that everyone who got one of the Asrock 6900xt for £650 cannot stop smiling.

Sorry to sound like a broken record but in one of the biggest PC, AAA games, Total War: WH3, the 6900XT is not fast enough.

In terms of pricing, I will go for 999 GBP inc. VAT for the 7900XTX reference.

Considering people here were smashing 1,899 down for a 3090ti 12 (ish) months ago, 999inc for a 7900XTX reference is what progress looks like.

Is the card worth 999inc for playing Total War WH3? Against the 4080/4090, absolutely it is. Is it worth 1299+ for a 7900XTX custom model? No.

I wonder what MLID will post about now? All his videos leading up to the launch were talking about how great the 7900XTX is, the AIB versions will get within the same performance tier as 4090. Turned out to be BS
i was only wondering how could nvidia destroy amd like that with lesser transistors, surely something is unaccounted for

It's a price gouged 7800XT and should have been $650-700, if AMD had gone with this instead calling it a $900 7900XT then their reviews would have been much more positive today rather than looking like Nvidia propaganda.

one more thing, its difficult to trust amd on face value - idk why they do that, its not like ppl wont find out.. its just a self defeating strategy, the brand takes a beating, many bitter potential amd customers must be cursing them because they must have lost valuable time waiting for the launch

"better streaming/recording" - has that been proven?
"cuda" - well I would hope a proprietary nVidia technology is only on an nVidia GPU!

They've come along way but still not quite there, probably why most streamers/content creators still use nvidia....

Cuda - well what option do people have? If they need it, they literally have no other choice so the extra money might be worth it for them

It's always been the case though over the last few gens. CUDA is used by the industry, Adobe use it, Black Magic use it, various 3D applications use it. Do AMD have an equivelant that is used in industry standard apps too?

As for streaming/recording, looks like the new AMDs have AV1 encode too, but nobody has tested it, or knows if it's even enabled at release. Streaming I don't do so have no idea, but most streamers seem to use stuff like OBS, which doesn't care what brand your card is as long as it's compatible.
