AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

Yes I am a little lost. Just interested really as I had one that I swapped from a gtx970 (needed more vram) and thought it was a cracking card. Kept it for several years. What was wrong with it ?

Nothing wrong with the card. Was a good card for the price.

Pretty sure what he is referring to is the thread here where a particular lad which I won’t name (as he loses his **** ever time for some reason) hyped it so much and got it so wrong that the thread was a train wreck in the end

So in China the top 7900xt from Powercolor is $1400 and too 7900xtx is $1600

How do Chinese prices normally translate to western prices?

Ahh that’s really disappointing if that’s the case. These cards at msrp would absolutely fly out. Actually, I suppose that’s always the problem, supply and demand etc

That's the 7000XTX Red Devil, not the reference card.

China has 13% sales tax, with that added on $1600 would amount to £1150, + 20% VAT = £1380.

Looks like its about $300 over reference.

Obviously way to early to tell but if I'm looking at 7900XTX's within two or three hundred of a 4090, well then I'm just going to get a 4090. Same issue with the 4080 pricing. The power/attractiveness of the 7900XTX is its value pricing vs the 4090's.

My general view is if it's within 200 then the 4090 is probably the better value, withing 200-300 it's a difficult choice, 400 cheaper and the 7900xtx is clearly the winner.

Depending on reviews of course.

I don't know why anyone expects the 7900xtx to be within £400 even of the the 4090. That is £1699 for the base model compared to the expected £1049 of the 7900xtx.

More to the point I also don't get why you'd buy a 4090 if its still £300 more for very similar performance tbh unless of course RT is your main thing. But I could never justify even £200 more for that. I don't think a single game I play has RT at moment.

I think if you compare the cheapest 4090 and cheapest 7900xtx the 7900xtx will still be like 500 cheaper. It's only the premium AIB models where the prices will come closer together
