AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

I was being a tit i google 1080 launch date not the TI.

Ill hang my head on that one! And ill conceed on the 10, series then, as i can't remember what the 1080 prices were for the first year as i was going by the 1080ti.

But going through those links it does look like the card i got was consistently priced as what i paid for it. Must have just been the first 4 or 5 months then that i was overpriced.
My argument stands for the 20 and 30 series though.
2080ti was dumbo price, 30 series lauinched in crypto/pandemic, whats 40 series excuse? ah yeah, greed and **** you cause they can

Are reviews on the 13th?

12th I think get the day before release.

True but 2080ti people paid the dumbo price, 30 series people paid the price. Your 100% right it's greed and becuase they can but people paid it. Didn't Nvidia report they have already sold 130k 4090's something like that? or shipped? one of the two.

No company on Earth is going to stop someone overpaying for something if they willingly do so.

The only mis-calculation I think Nvidia made which is evident by the 4080 is that they overestimated the demand, people needed/wanted the 3000 series because they couldn't leave the house/work from home, this time around that same Demand isn't there and peoples cash flows are a lot lower.

Hopefully we will see some price competition with AMDs new cards, i'm tempted to wait a month on the 7900xtx just to see if AMD and Nvidia slap each other around with the prices.
Nope, it was launched in March 2017, so it was about 5 months later. The non-Ti 1080 launched in May 2016.

Edit: I was beaten to it.

Yep i got that wrong I aknowledged that above. I didn't google Ti just the 1080 ahha.

You are aware all those deals for the MRSP 1080ti are from Aug 2017?
All from August 2017 to September 2018 matey! So, no, all those deals aren't from August 2017.

Just seen your other post, no worries - we're all wrong at some time or another :) (Said in a nice way not a "Ha Ha! You're wrong" way)

I meant "From Aug 2017" as in from that date onwards not as in all from that same month.

But yeh, I often use the "It's ok, It's ok to be wrong" when I know i'm right this time though, wasn't able to use it if only i'd have had search Ti

Not as bad as the other week when I returned a washing machine to currys because I didn't check the plug first... the damn thing vibrated so much it unplugged itself... now that was a humiliating climb down

It was a posting in a thread you donk not 'stuff' :p

He's spent a LOT of money in the past on kit so isn't really in a position to tell other people not to :D

Haha. I edited a little to make it more fitting for this thread :p

Yea, I have noticed quite a few people who used to always buy the top end card without fail and others would tell them they are "ruining it" for other, their response was "its my money, I worked hard and will spend it as I see fit". Now some of them too can no longer justify the new pricing and are not upgrading or like Locky complaining

At the end of the day it is true though, each to their own. Everyone can do what they want with their money. We can all vote with our wallets, but can't tell others how to vote with theirs.

I mean if you can afford to spend £1000 on GPUs i don't think you're too worried about power efficiency.
If you cant afford the electric you shouldn't be buying a new GPU in the first place.
Absolutely rubbish. Power efficiency is still important. I don't like idea of wasting electricity just cause. I still want it yo be efficient and some of that also comes from having small form factor build too and at time 750w psu and I don't see any reason to want to replace that when it's platinum and only 2yr old.

But also why should we just accept massive power usage?
