Ok.

With the exchange rate at $1.23 the $1000 reference 7900XTX would be £975, AIB card starting at £1100 is not bad, not bad at all, the 4080 starts £400 more, the equivalent of an RX 6700 more expensive.

So far so good.

Wont convince the folk on here im afraid. :cry:

you have to add VAT and UK customs,

1.2x975=£1170, so likely £1200 initially

I was being a tit i google 1080 launch date not the TI.

Ill hang my head on that one! And ill conceed on the 10, series then, as i can't remember what the 1080 prices were for the first year as i was going by the 1080ti.

But going through those links it does look like the card i got was consistently priced as what i paid for it. Must have just been the first 4 or 5 months then that i was overpriced.
My argument stands for the 20 and 30 series though.
The prices went up during a crypto boom but then fell again after, this time though nvidia doesn't want to conceded the crypto pricing but will have to relent eventually as gamers are showing they are not willing to pay silly money at least not for mid range cards.

By summer there is a good chance both companies will be slashing prices. Once people who wanted them have purchased, sales will slow down a lot.

If the reference 7900XT/XTX appear for higher prices than they should be then just don't buy them and prices will fall, it's clearly working for the 4080 although that card still has a long way to go.

A long long way. £700 is the right price for that card. £800 would be the absolute maximum. Anything more is taking the biscuit territory as far as I am concerned.

Yeah I usually like to buy at the start of a generation but I think playing the long game is the way to go this time.

It's absolutely critical that these companies are not allowed to normalise crypto pricing and I shall do my bit and boycott their products for as long as it takes for pricing to return to sensible levels.

Yeh the last crypto boom lasted most of the cycle, this time though Nvidia and AMD should (hopefully) get a slap in the face, when you think the demand is lower as well as the fact people in general will have less money to spend.

I'm interested in what Nvidia will try and sell the 4070 and 4070ti for that will give us an idea on the prices they are aiming at.
