AMD RX 7900 XT/XTX Upgrade discussion

Gonna be upgrading from a 1080ti to a 7900XTX, currently got a 550W PSU, assuming this won't be enough! How do people work out how much power is required?

My point wasn't that top tier costs money, but that all of these GPUs are overpriced.
afaik your post was also saying that the price increase is too much for the the performance increase u get.

Yes look at the 3080, it was £650... 2 YEARS ago. Just like the 2080 2 years before that. The 4080 shouldn't be double the price of a 3080, especially considering it has the same size silicon as a 3070.

/facepalm
you look better with your hand covering your face, who mentioned the price of a 4080? not me. my post simply stated that price goes up exponentially with performance.

in the world we live in right now everything is over priced my box of eggs cost 45% more than they did 6 months ago , why are people expecting GPUs to be any different. The cost of manufacture , logistics , storage , raw materials has all increased globally I think the increase in performance has little to do with the increase in price

TVs and most other electronics have not gone up in price, zen 4 did not go up. Stop making excuses for the likes of AMD and nvidia who are trying to make profits similar to when we had the lockdowns and mining boom.

CPUs havent they even dropped compared to last generation with recent price drops , even high end Oled Tv's have dropped , can carry on with few other electronics as well not sure how 4080 doubled in price

For anyone like me with two monitors, concerned about the reports of high idle power consumption, ComputerBase found it to be not only normal, but actually quite low

If this is like my previous experience with this issue from years ago, it depends on how the monitors are connected, with DP+DP being fine, while DP+HDMI may be problematic.

You said it's ok for any card to be double the price of a 3080 as long as it's at least 10% faster. I was pointing out how utterly missing the point that is, only for you to utterly miss the point again.
At this point I think my hand may as well be super glued to my face permanently if trying to discuss anything with you. Do you have to have post it notes on each hand that say "breathe in" and "breathe out"?
