AMD RX 7900 XT/XTX Upgrade discussion

You said it's ok for any card to be double the price of a 3080 as long as it's at least 10% faster. I was pointing out how utterly missing the point that is, only for you to utterly miss the point again.
At this point I think my hand may as well be super glued to my face permanently if trying to discuss anything with you. Do you have to have post it notes on each hand that say "breathe in" and "breathe out"?
ok sure man u win, sorry Sir andybird123 :D

Lodsa stock still. Proves what the 4080/90 proved. People will pay a lot more £££ but only for top tier performance.
Not middle of the road stuff.

I would have loved to have bought a 7900XTX to give the middle finger to Nvidia for there outrageous price hikes on the mid tier but after seeing the reviews it turns out AMD is just doing the same thing nvidia has done with the usual 10% cheaper price so I'll be giving them both the middle finger.

Still running a Radeon VII in my gaming rig but it only really gets used for VR these days, most casual gaming done on PS5.

If these had been more sensible, maybe £600 & £700 I might have bitten, but until I upgrade my VR headset I can make do for a bit longer.

Ideally want one with a waterblock included, I think Asrock announced one so far?

Got a sapphire MBA. I now have a problem though. My current monitor is a Samsung S23A700 (will change in future). It only has HDMI and DVI inputs. Is there an adaptor I would be able to use in order to use the high refresh of the DVI? Or will the HDMI 2.1a spec not work with current adaptors?

HDMI should be backwards compatible, that said I doubt an i7 2600k is going to be able to push 120hz at 1080p.

@Gibbo Not sure if your allowed to say or not but i was looking at getting the Aorus Elite 7900 xtx but its over priced and not looking to pre order so do i need to wait another month or so for stock to arrive? also what's the MSRP on this model normally is it like 1150/1200?

I had at one point had a Vega64 running on the 2500K overclocked to 4.6GHz and it was bottlenecking significantly (bottlenecked minimum frame rate by up to over 50%) when gaming on my TV at 1080p at 120Hz.

The 7900XTX is around 2.5x to 3x the performance of the Vega64...you gonna have a huge bottleneck if you not building a new PC to go with your new card!

I actually have the Samsung S23A700 myself (which has long retired to my mother's PC), and to get 120Hz you cannot use the monitor's HDMI port (that's limited to 60Hz), you MUST use the DVI-D port on the monitor.

You would have to try too find dual-link cable that has DVI-D (Dual Link) 24+1 Pins on one end and HDMI on the other end.
