AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

Just ordered an AMD 5800X3D! Thanks for the heads up!

It just makes sense, to just re-use AM4, because the gains from AM5 are minimal. Plus 13600K, and a Z790 motherboard is just stupid prices.

I also think the second-hand value of the 5800X3D will remain good for some years. People will want to upgrade, and tons of people are on 3700X or 5600X and see this as their best upgrade!

Nobody would advise a 5800X3D to somebody looking at a new build.

Where the 5800X3D shines in value for money is sustaining the previous generation platform. You can whack this chip in old AM4 motherboards for £420 and be about 5% (average) from the performance of a 13600K.
And that I agree 100%.

Well its not a 5800X3D but my little old B350/1600 system is going to get a nice shot in the arm from a 5600. Sure I could have grabbed the X version on MM for 140 recently but I prefer to buy new if I can. Plus a free game. Bonus:)

Well I was toying with the idea of cashing in on my 9900ks (seeing as they're going for crazy money at the moment) and switching over to a 5800X3D. Don't know if I can hold out for Black Friday now with the price drop. Any decent B550 board recommendations?

I have the gigabyte aorus Pro-p, it's been awesome tbh, never an issue with it, have 4 sticks of 3600 in it running at 3800, IF running 1900, pbo on my 5600x does the full +200mhz, it's never missed a beat, think I paid less than £120.

Is there any point in upgrading from a regular 5800x to this? I bought 5800x at launch, my PC is pretty much entirely for gaming and for 330 it seems like a good price.

Is it actually worth it though?

Doubtful that its worth the effort & time tbh. Do you feel like you need more performance, have you checked how much FPS increase to expect in the games (and resolution) you play?

Not really, and I can’t say I’m unhappy with my current performance. It‘s more that “upgrade itch” and considering if it’s worth looking at.

It does seem like performance increases are nice, in some cases a solid % gain and in other games it’s pretty marginal.

Sometimes you just need people to tell you it's not worth it to scratch the itch.

I'm tempted my self at these prices.

Currently running a 5600x with my 3080 at 1440p 144hz.

Will the 5800x3d be a noticeable boost with my set up?

Been looking at reviews and benchmarks comparing these two cpus and difference doesnt seem that great. On average about 15-20%.
