AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

I'm tempted my self at these prices.

Currently running a 5600x with my 3080 at 1440p 144hz.

Will the 5800x3d be a noticeable boost with my set up?

Been looking at reviews and benchmarks comparing these two cpus and difference doesnt seem that great. On average about 15-20%.

Similar setup here.

It will be the 0.1 and 1% lows you'll see the most gain in, probably more if you use DLSS as your res. is technically lower.

I've bitten now. Been meaning for weeks, and at least unnamed competitor has run out of stock. So... Yeah. It's in the post. Now to look at the MM for what people might give me for the 3600.

I have a 3600x and I'm getting the itch to pull the trigger.

It's not as if my system is struggling. I'm just trying to justify it by telling myself to drop this in and that's my rig sorted for the next couple of years.

Head is telling me to keep the 3600x and buy a replacement CPU in 18-24 months; where hopefully the 3800x3D will be cheaper.

You won't see much difference if any if you already have a 3600x. Look at some you tube videos in some games the 3600x slightly beats the x3d.

The main difference will be in 1% lows but if you have a decent graphics card that shouldn't matter.

It would make more sense to put that £350 towards a 4080 on 12th November. Leaked benchmarks put it slightly behind a 3090ti

Link below indicate thats at 4k the 5800x3d beats the 3600 by a mere 8fps across a 20 game average. Is 8fps worth £350?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyyJdYbkI44&t=797s

here you can see in CS:GO 3600 beats 5800x3d by 6fps at 4k
Dying light - 3600 wins by 1 fps
Far cry 6 & Gears 5 both chips are equal

There are numerous other reviews and videos with similar results if you care to do your own research but it seems it's only worth upgrading to the x3d if you play very old games (there is less fps difference between the chips in games that came out in the last couple of years ) or play at 1080p.

Ultimately it depends on what games you play and what resolution, but I maintain my argument that it makes more sense to put such a large amount of money towards a new graphics card than this chip.

I just cant be bothered to take the pc apart.

The 5600x is still a great chip. I cant justify the upgrade.
I feel the same way about my 3900X, the 5800X3D is tempting but I play mostly single player games at 4K (with DLSS where warranted) and so any benefits will be limited.

The 4080 16GB is significantly faster, the 12GB version has been 'unlaunched' by Nvidia as far as I know.

TBH, feeling much the same now, been looking at what is coming out and there is sweet f all between now and end of next year and most of the stuff I will be playing will be RT so far more GPU bound, not to mention, the only game I am playing atm is uncharted so already pushing well into the 100s. That and my 5600x undervolts to -30 across all cores with pbo so it's pretty much a golden sample.
