AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3D Cache Eight Core 4.5GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - Go Go Go xD

In terms of dropping this in. Just a case of updating my mobo (X570 Taichi) to the latest BIOS (5.00) and dropping it in. Nothing else to do initially?
Has anyone run a Taichi on 5.00? IS it OK?

I did this on my Taichi running BIOS 4.82 and didnt have any issues, so i'd be surprised if 5.00 gave any problems. Always best to reset the BIOS after a CPU change and reapply any settings for Memory etc.

All you folks with a 5800x3D and saying temps are fine with your AIO's.

Have a feeling I might be spending more money once I install it run a couple of benchmarks/stress tests with my air cooler!

You dont buy the 5800x3d to be good in benchmarks.
;)
Its not that kind of CPU. I had the 5800x before me and this is slowerin benchmarks. Its in games that it actually makes a difference.
BTW mine idles at 35c and its around 55c in games it only goes +70c in benchmarks eg Cinebench.

Yup that's what I have seen people say too. I'll need to play some other games. As said, I'll most likely be keeping it as it is more future proof with it matching current new ryzen and intel chips and not having to buy new board and RAM, that and have got spiderman miles morale this month, which is very cpu demanding :p New gpu will be bought at some point as well which will allow the 5800x3d to stretch its legs more.

What's your case and fan setup + curves? Obviously using the 280mm but seems quite a difference compared to mine.

This is the best method still.

The "startup method" doesnt work on Windows 11.

Thanks will give that a try later.

It definetly is a bit toasty but if you got a decent heatsink already, it should be ok. It's weird as in games, temps seem pretty good but on desktop when idling or just loading things, can see sudden temp spikes from 40 to 60 out of nowhere  As of now, I'm sitting at 47 and only thing is this browser which is open, no background videos etc. playing. Having said that, cpu fan speed is pretty low:

Theres nothing to change in the bios, im running a Gigabyte X570s Master and all the options for CPU have pretty much gone, however in the AMD CBS menu - XFR enhancement - just enable PBO, and make sure your LLC is on auto, setting this to anything other than auto I found had a big impact on clock speeds and temps, then just set your ram settings and forget the rest, in windows use PBO2 Tuner, I think everyone is just shooting for -30 on all cores, I know I did, could be bothered to test and tweak another chip, ive not had any issues with it at all, under heavy stress test im hitting 81oC 4.4ghz with PBO2 Tuner instead of 90oC 4.1ghhz-4.2ghz without PBO2 Tuner.
Thanks for the reply.

Yeah I know this from the previous bios with my 3700x. But the bios flash to the latest bios F37d and 5800x3d have completely changed the bios options lol. This is all I have under AMD CBS. Can’t see and PBO or XFR or LLC.

I have the phanteks 500a and I just have the AC 2 on 100% - the pump and fans are all connected together so you cant set the speed differently unless you run the fans some other way.
It runs quiet for me. I think the fans are 1000rpm.

Speaking of which, any fan profile/monitoring software recommendations? SpeedFan doesn't seem to work or detect my fans and the only thing that can even change them is within the BIOS.

I use FanControl based on water temp to keep things quiet. As for the 5600X vs 5800X3D I don't think running settings that give 70-90 averages is going to show much difference as it is a fairly comfortable range for many modern processors. Once you get a new GPU or lower settings that push closer to that 170Hz refresh rate on the OLED the gaps may start to show up :)

Is fast shipping with OCUK a thing of the past? I havent orderred anything for a year at least but used to be you would invariably get next day delivery. I ordered the CPU yesterday and not only it isn't here, it isn't shipped or indeed even "processed" yet. So I don't expect it tomorrow either now. Not really complaining, just wondering if things have changed? Certainly used to be super fast.

Why I stopped using ocuk many years ago.

Legend, this one worked. I can finally have my fans quiet again :o. Thanks.

After removing a chunky layer of dust from my front dust filter, and finally sorting out my fans - there should a good amount of cool airflow inside in preparation :D.

Ordered mine elsewhere for slightly less and got it next day via DHL included in the price.

Its in NBIO common options, you will see XFR enhancement in there.

LLC is right at the bottom of the tweaker page in the menu which will say something like CPU/VRM options.

Thanks. Found it. I was thinking nobody else would have the same board as me as it was the cheaper end of the expensive x570 at the time. Most on here seem to get the more expensive stuff.

Is anyone using this CPU and playing MW2?

I'm playing at 1080p and pretty happy with where my FPS hits at highs/averages on my 5800x - but the 1% lows are my concern and it can drop at times. I'm trying to tell myself I 100% don't need the upgrade to a 5800x3D but every time I look at this thread and see everyone happy with their purchase I get more and more convinced I should take the plunge.
