AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D retail processor has been tested ahead of launch

Its 330 FPS @ 4.45Ghz 85 Watts vs 342 FPS @ 5.4Ghz 165 watts

For 21% higher clocks and 100% more power that overclocked 12900K is 3% faster than a stock 5800X3D.

I think if @Robert896r1 was completely honest he would agree he pushed the chip and the memory until he got that +3% on the screen cap.
330? The screenshot of the 5800 was 290,no?

With AMDs comical releases over the past few months better hope this chip is good. Is that why they are leaking benchmarks to take some heat away from that?

Just as the i9 that could be bought from caseking - before the embargo lifted huh? Nope, this was from another retailer who sold it early as well, not a leak per se.

Its not in the menu, the menu as well as the water mark is an overlay imposed image, the menu in SOTTR is its own solid screen.

Wait that's wrong, the original new TR was but this isn't, it is a transparent menu overlay but the frame rates also drop by 15% when in the menu. So if anything you can add 15% to that 330 FPS, i mean it says the 'Average' is 329 FPS in the OSD, which bar 1 FPS is the same, if we are to add 15% to 330 that makes it 380 in that scene, but lets not confuse it, lets stick with what it says. 330.

Also, 55 watts at a solid 4.9Ghz :D That's a Laptop power levels chip. a 4.9Ghz 16 thread Laptop chip.

Sorry....

You don't lose fps in the menu dude, it's just you are GPU bound, lol. Lower your resolution and then youll get 50% + fps in the menu. I just tried it.

Citation needed, for both ^^^^ i can't get my CPU to bottleneck the GPU in menu even at 800x600. looking around trying to find that i was reading 400 FPS at one point and i don't have any more GPU umph...

5800X3D looks excellent for those that 8 cores are enough for. Sadly, many want/need more cores in 2022. AMD would have been onto a huge winner if they released 5900x/5950x with the 3D cache technology, as this would save people having to replace motherboard & RAM, since Zen4 offers no DDR4 controller.

Looking forward to reviewers that test 12900KS, along with 6400Mhz+ DDR5. Makes sense to test both platforms at their best available performance, regardless of price. Using DDR4 on a 12900k when faster DDR5 is available is not that useful to determine overall performance.
