Poll: AMD Screws Gamers: Sponsorships Likely Block DLSS

Are AMD out of order if they are found to be blocking DLSS on Starfield

  • Yes

  • No

BTW the media police and the title of the thread are wrong. AMD are not screwing gamers. AMD are screwing Nvidia owners. To say they are screwing gamers assumes they are screwing their own customers. They are not.

This just shows to me at least how many people are on Nvidia and want to whine about something else other than being shafted by Jen.

No one minded paying Jen for RT, so if you want to play these games at their best pay AMD.

The answer to this whole debate is almost certainly trivial. The license agreement for DLSS requires you to show Nvidia branding and all sorts of things.

The AMD sponsorship requires you to not show competitors branding. Are they blocking DLSS? No.

It's the interaction of the two agreements, one positive and one negative. Who is at fault? Which ever suits your biases. AMD don't want to explain this? I'm not surprised. Explaining this buys them nothing, because even if it was fixed it does nothing to resolve all the DLSS "not blocking honest" Nvidia exclusives.

So they have no way to win.

Like i said before all this angry crap from these jurnos about how bad this looks for AMD wish it was so and know it isn't, which is why HUB repeat that sentence about 117 times in a single video, the only people upset by this are people who don't buy their GPU's and never will.

This game has been developed for console first, remind me what GPUs the consoles are running. Regardless FSR being hardware agnostic is the way to go, DLSS is the Betamax equivalent in graphics tech in this fight which suggests that XeSS is the Video 2000 equivalent :D

Don't forget Control, no FSR there either. Nvidia sponsored.
Think people are misunderstanding something.

A game can be non sponsored yet have dlss and or fsr, but the games that are sponsored never have the competing tech in it on release at the least.

People don't seem to understand what it means to have a sponsor

Right

In this case AMD spent time and money to help Bethesda to make the game, why should AMD let Nvidia put their competing tech and logos all over it?

People are mad because they need DLSS to get the performance they need, instead of directing the blame for that to where it should be they get mad at AMD, because Nvidia are a religion.

HUB's twitter pool matches the market share AMD vs Nvidia pretty much exactly, 80% think AMD bad, 20% can see the insane ####### irony in all this.

Are AMD out of order.....

No, it's their right to do what they want, NVidia have had multiple occasions of dodgy practices, sponsored titles which support nvidia features, and block amd ones are plentiful. Witcher 3 for example at launch had nvidia hairworks, dlss is a feature that requires proprietary hardware so even nvidia customers on older generation cards cannot use the feature. At least with FSR it works on every single GPU on the market including NVidia ones. On the plus side as well it means the AMD gpus will be fully optimised to run the game so we could see situations where the 7900XTX out paces the 4090, which would be funny considering the price differences.

Which is ironic, given that all of the people bleating about it on Youtube for hits and money are all sponsored by one company.

I don't see them saying "Before that, we are sponsored by..... hang on, we are sponsored by Asus but sod it, buy Gigabyte !".

Tis business dude. That's all. All is fair in love and war. They paid up, they get dibs. It really is as simple as that.

Voted no. They are out of order doing it yes, but in terms of business and expectations in 2023, with companies doing various things like this to maximise £££ either long or short term, it's unfortunately to be expected.

TLDR no coz capitalism.

How are AMD screwing Nvidia owners when EVERY Nvidia owner can use FSR?

The irony is AMD Supports more Nvidia owners than Nvidia does when it comes to fake frames.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of closed systems on PC and all this exclusivity leave that to the consoles.

When it comes to fake frames through I'd much rather the free open source solution is the one wins overall.

Well in conclusion to all this i responded to HUB's idiotic polls.

Benefiting consumers? by that you mean Nvidia, the only people upset by this don't buy AMD cards and never will, that's about 85% of the dGPU space so don't pretend this is a PC gamer thing, this is simply an AMD vs Nvidia thing and Nvidia have the monopoly.

Yes i do and should they not? AMD are not spending money on helping to develop a game so that Nvidia can plaster their features and logos all over it, and so that people who don't buy their cards can make their 4060Ti look less like a 3060Ti, what the hell is wrong with you?

Pc master race used to just sit back and watch the console kids battle it out with one another. Now the state of pc is just in fighting amongst themselves, and console guys just waiting for the pc guys to jump to consoles  :(

AMD was asked if they block dlss

Their answer was we don't want to answer that question

If you play dumb games by not saying yes/no then you win dumb prizes by getting destroyed by the media
The one thing people do not understand is that no matter what they would say, someone would call it BS and bad PR. Smart people in the internet learned already that the smartest thing to do about such drama is to not give any response at all and just ignore it. People have very short memory and even shorter attention span, so very soon another drama from any of the many vendors out there will take over their attention - and this will just go away by itself, forgotten like all the other past sins of NVIDIA and AMD and Intel. Irrelevant what the truth actually is.

But FSR works on NVIDIA just fine, so why the need to pay AMD for "to play these games at their best"? This bit makes no logical sense, to me.
