2950x will still be faster in most cases though.

Yeah Corsair can seriously F off with that. You got lucky in the silicon lottery because even cheap B-die is still better. DRAM calculator also says "not supported" when i select 3600 for Micron D-die so i'm not even going to try CL16 at 3600 because i can't see it ever working now. I'll probably just use 3400 or 3466 with 16-18-18-36 at least it only needs 1.35v.

Memory manufacturers have always done that. I bought an Avexir kit that normally used Hynix chips, but mine came with Samsung B-Die - so it works both ways. They use whatever chips are the cheapest, available and can reach the advertised specs. It's really only the 8pack ram sold by OCUK that has ever guaranteed a certain die.

Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C15

3200MHz Dual Channel Kit (Black)

It runs at 3200 fine, but timings are loose. I haven't really fiddled with it to be honest.

My 2950x gamed fine. I wouldn't go for a 2970wx or 2990wx. In all honestly though, a good am4 system using a gen 3 proc makes more sense over an old x399 system, even at 2nd hand prices.
