of course youtubers tend to love high core count cpus since they encode videos which of course is a task that is perfect for marketing high core chips.

AMD need to make a push in datacentres as server's will also chew up cores for breakfast.

The one market that loads of cores doesnt benefit much is a typical home user, in that arena clock speed is king, which makes me surprised why so many home users want one.

The average gamer only has 2 cores, 4 cores is considered high end, and 78% of games put most load on one core.

If I ever see a datacentre offering up threadrippers on server lease's then I will likely pick such a server.

That doesnt mean I wont turn down extra cores on my desktop, just that I wont pick cores over per core performance.

78% of games, show me where you pulled this from.
Despite what you think 4 cores isn't high end anymore. People label gamers as poor as **** budget buyers lol.

steam database

the likes of us who buy specialised discrete components is a minority of the market, most of steam gamers play on a laptop, never mind dedicated gtx cards, 4k monitors, i7 cpus etc :)

if 90% of your customer base plays your game on a 2 core cpu then you not going to make it heavily threaded.

if you buying the top end thread ripper why would it matter ? realistically you will be keeping it for the cpus life or boards life anyway.

I dont believe that steam database shows you that 78% of games put load on 1 core. I think you pulled that figure from your ass.
Steam hardware also shows that 4 cores are more popular than 2 cores. 50.11% vs 43.85%
Don't go spouting figures with no proof for them.

The K7 is the best looking board imho, but wish they had gone the extra step for the VRM cooler and more phases (8 similarly to Asus).Compared to the Carbon with th
But those two do not have active VRM cooling, the Prime & Zenith have.

Still haven't made my mind between MSI Carbon, Gigabyte K7 and Asus Zenith :(

Seeing the unboxings I have to say this. Look at the box, tool etc the TR4 CPUs comes with, and the $550 1900X, and compare it to the Intel standard 5p box even on their $2000 CPU :/

Says a lot about effort and consumer care.

K7 uses 8 phases.
