Yeah its a big turn around, used to be ATi who were terrible at drivers (before they started the catalysts), but my how things change, in a perfect world we would just have Nvidia making cards, and ATi just doing the drivers for em. :D

Just found this on Fud, 4850 faster than the 8800 GT by about 9%.

Someone told us that the Radeon HD 4850 will beat the 8800 GT by about 8 to 9 percent, and while this might not sound by much, considering that the expected retail price of the Radeon HD 4850 will be less than some 8800 GT cards, then it’s getting interesting.

I can't understand driver bashing? I know we are an atypical demanding bunch, and nvidia might not be doing anything approaching a perfect job, but I just update mine every now and then, never REALLY see any change in game performance and its stable for the large part...

seems you guys getting too hung up over nothing cos I personally have no problems just getting 2-3 updates a yr or when i'm really bored? driver is a driver, MEH imo

how about when the drivers caus bsods, a minimum 4 times a day?:confused:

and what about that latest game you've just bought not working on your 6+ month old drivers, keeps BSODing etc... are you going to be happy waiting another 6 months for the next driver that has the fix so you can finally play it, nor me.:p

Drivers need to come out all the time at a constant rate (like AMD's doing :D), they can't just do 2-3 a year (like Nvidias doing :D) as thats why everyones complaining, as they not getting fixes, well they do, but waiting 6 months for a fix, or longer is no good.

Doesn't the 3870 get similar results to the GT in 3dmarks yet struggles to get anywhere near it in games? If that is true then the 4850 would might not even be faster than a GT in a gaming environment given the **fudzilla** scores.
That is the worse thing about the delay- more time to make up fake articles!
 
Yeah its gaming performance that matters, not 3D Marks, having a bigger score doesn't automatically mean its faster in games, it could be slower.
 
I wonder If ATI are holding back their launch because they are quietly confident they have a good line up and would like to make more money ?

No need to hold back, if they were that confident they would release asap.

I'm interested to see how much performance can be had from the 4870's after being pencil modded, if they can be of course. Probability of damaging the card on stock cooling i suppose
