AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

thanks - i opted for more ram rather than faster...32gig of 3200 stuff. I'm happy to do a bit of tweaking but as i said, not looking to overclock.

Just seems to be so much choice of 570, it's a bit overwhelming. i'm thinking the asus prime x570 p fits the bill..

Needing WiFi aren't you ?

Aorus not doing Pro WiFi in UK which is a shame. Ultra and it's 12 phases are £300 :/ least you get £30 steam voucher for a review with them .

Also saw states now allowing warranty cover up to 5 years on boards ... Nothing EU/UK yet though :(

Think MSI do a board for £250 with WiFi ?

i'm hearing mixed reports about the 3900 on the 450 tomahawk. Anyone confident to tell me it'll work fine (at stock). Got all the bits here and really hoping to build tomorrow :D

I've ran a 3900X on an X470 board, but not had time to get it on one of the B450's this week (it's been hectic!) What I will say is the X470 it was on has worse VRM's than the Tomahawk, and it was on an open-air test bench so the VRM's did get a little warmer than they would in a case with some airflow near/across them.

You shouldn't face any issues at stock anyhow, just make sure that you are using the correct Ryzen/AMD driver and power plan in Windows, and that any monitoring software you use doesn't force the CPU to keep waking up from sleep due to over polling it. :)

thanks - no need for wifi as i'll be over network. Thinking about the asus x570-p for 200...delivery tomorrow. Just want to be able to get up and running with minimal headaches or fuss and i suppose a 570 is definitely going to provide more future proofing than a b450..

I have got the same 3900X and Tomahawk so thanks for the advice. I haven't run an AMD system for over 10 years! When you say 'power plan' I presume you're referring to the Power Options settings in Win10?

Yes, there are three, AMD Ryzen High Performance, AMD Ryzen Balanced, and AMD Ryzen Power Saver - chose which ever suits your needs, but Balanced works best for day to day usage.

Thanks for confirming that. The AMD Drivers you mentioned is just the AMD System/Chipset driver available on the motherboard web page?

Indeed, I'd be keeping an eye on that page since I'd imagine there will be a few updates over the coming weeks. :)
:D Indeed! It could be a bumpy few months. I would normally have waited ~6 months for most of the initial teething issues to surface and get fixed but my video computer motherboard gave up the ghost and I need something fairly quickly. ;)

I am begining to wonder if i even need 850 watts this time round for my psu. Seems 750 is more that enough? I will only ever be using 1 GPU now so the extra watts are not needed!

I think the 650w is single 8pin, if that makes any difference. Per Buoldzoid, you absolutely don't need 2 8pins or even 8+4.

The 750w has 2 8pins if you want them. Only reason I went with the 850w was because it was cheaper than the 750w at the time. Definitely not planning on trying SLI again...
