From what I read it is intended to use 90% as the minimum, because when they are not in use they go to sleep instead. However that should not be causing the CPU to Idle on high voltage, so they recommended to use Windows on 85% if your Ryzen Balanced is not working.

Yeah I read what the AMD had posted but wondering of everyone who has installed fresh with latest chipset drivers what is your min proc setting under Ryzen balanced ? mine was 90% with the old drivers but with new its 0%, as new obviously didn't install correctly over old on mine despite no obvious signs they hadn't. even had the successful message but I didn't have a Ryzen high performance profile hence the doubt.

I have all the Ryzen profiles. I didnt notice and I had installed some old Chipset Drivers that also had the Ryzen profiles but were not the new one. Uninstalled, rebooted, and installed the latest ones. Ryzen Balanced was set to 0%, but I am not sure if I should leave it as that or put it to 90%. I tried 90% and my PC goes on Idle fine.

No idea :)

I do wonder if there are some crossed wires at AMD though as the message about 90% seems odd if the default for the new profile is 0% maybe new profile is different ?

This is a long shot, but does anyone with any Zen 2 (ideally 3700X+) and a decent GPU (GTX 1080/Ti or any RTX card) own BioShock Infinite? Any chance someone could run the benchmark on 1080p/very low and give the overall FPS? A weirdly specific request I know, but I have a reason :p

With MSI bringing out a larger Bios MAX version motherboard for the 4xx boards which sees the Eeprom double form 16Mb to 32Mb, Why are some manufacturers (Namely Gigabyte) still using 16Mb Eeprom? I believe all the other X570 boards have 32Mb. I thought the reason for the larger Eeprom was due to bios limitations?

MSI bloated their BIOS with a bunch of crap, moreso than maybe Gigabyte did.
I'm more annoyed that their Carbon AC isn't getting the MAX treatment in the first wave.

HEH Silicon Lottery is actually going ahead with trying to make a margin on the 3000 series overclocking margins.

They seem to reckon the 3800X is a higher clocker, listed at up to 4.3GHz while the 3900X is at 4.2 and 3700X just 4.15.

What does this mean? I'm not following. From my observations from YouTube (yea I know) I can see an all core boost of 4.200GHz - 4.300GHz for the 3700x.

Going off the R20 thread, it seems the 3900x can reach all core speeds better than the 3700x, especially at lower volts.

The 3800x seems very close to the 3900x in terms of ability to OC and due to less cores, seems to do it on less volts also.

Some of the 3600s seem to struggle to the speeds of the 3700, 3800 and 3900 on a single core.

Deciding on memory, I need want a 32gb kit (2x16gb) and at my local seller I can see 3 x G.Skill Trident Z sets - All 3200mhz, the difference appears to be the timings

CL16 - 16-18-18-38-2N
CL15 - 15-15-15-35-2N
CL14 - 14-14-14-34-2N

As a memory noob. From what I can tell, the lower the number the faster/tighter the timings, therefore better?

If so am I best off just going with the 3rd option?

flat CL15 and CL14 are both Samsung B-die, just different bins.
The lower the timings the better, but the difference is tiny, so not worth overpaying much.

They buy bulk cpus and bin them to try and make money selling the overclocking potential.

So on account of them testing bulk cpus, if they're listing the 3800X as getting the highest frequency then it's a reasonable guess that, on average, the 3800X clocks higher.

Anyway what it means is, they are guaranteeing all core manual overclock of X.

There's not much of an overclock to be had but they're giving it a go anyway.
