Really want a amd build but I think I'll be waiting on am5 for it to be worth while going from a 6700k.
I'm interested in seeing Intel's response to AMD's chips, i don't think I'm going to jump straight to AMD without seeing what they do first.I do have a 6700k too, but I will switch back to amd if the rumors are true.
It is worth the money if you do a lot video editing/rendering, etc. like me.
I'm just struggling with myself, which cpu I should buy. The 3850x would be amazing, because of the high clock speed... but on the other side, Zen2+ will launch in 2020 and zen3 in 2021...?! So maybe I will just go with the 3700x in the first step
With the 16 core CPU's, AMD better be quicker than usual at updating the Threadripper chips or the platform will die.

I don't think they'll need to be that quick - TR/TR2 still hold significant advantages for HEDT, will all depend on the number of PCIE lanes that Zen2 offers and if every part is duel channel, or if some of them are quad etc. With the 16 core CPU's, AMD better be quicker than usual at updating the Threadripper chips or the platform will die.

Personally I hope TR3 gets 8 channel RAM and a to help with the cross die memory access

We already know don't we? 10 core Coffeelake priced very Intel'ish.I'm interested in seeing Intel's response to AMD's chips, i don't think I'm going to jump straight to AMD without seeing what they do first.
Agree it shouldn't be needed but have seen nothing to confirm yet?8 channel RAM is for EPYC. It won't be on TR, nor is it needed. Plus Zen 2's centralised I/O design eliminates the cross-die memory access weirdness we saw with the 2970WX and 2990WX.
What about quad-channel memory for the APUs?! They need it the most.
Anyone who needs that level of performance would buy a graphics card anyway. Some gamers on an extremely tight budget buy APUs because they cant afford a GPU so they couldn't afford quad-channel memory either.
Years of upgraded GPUs as well
