AMD Zen 2 (Ryzen 3000) - *** NO COMPETITOR HINTING ***

I'm also curious if b550 / x570 will support Zen 3 processors released in 2020...
i don't see why not, when amd have previously stated that the AM4 socket would be supported until 2020.
so if zen 3 launches on the AM4 socket, it should be a drop in upgrade for most boards.

What about using Zen 3 with b450 and x470 chipsets? I was thinking board manufacturers might not bother to update the firmware, or perhaps boards with these chipsets won't provide enough power to support them.

The promise actually ends with Zen 2 which will be the main chips well into 2020, thereby satisfying what they said.

However, they've also said right now there is no plan to move away from AM4. So Zen 3 is likely to be AM4.

Also remember AM4 actually came out in 2016 before Ryzen, supporting Bristol Ridge. So that will be 4 generations of chips, Bristol Ridge, Summit Ridge, Pinnacle Ridge and Matisse.

What mid range x570 boards are confirmed with minimal to zero RGB led? I don't really want a board that looks like a reboot of pump my ride. Just a plain board and heatsink without the fairground lights

I'm considering getting HyperX Predator DDR4 3200MHz and running it at 3466mhz, as a lot of b450 boards support this speed. I've found it for £80 (16gb) in the UK so it's quite affordable. According to the review below, the RAM is likely to run upto 3500mhz:

Has anyone tried this before with the same RAM, or can you recommend similar RAM that will overclock to 3466MHZ or more?

UPDATE - I found some a Patriot 3400MHZ 16GB kit for ~£80 , which looks to be the best deal. Apparently it overclocks well too.

just buy on the price/specs balance you want. If it has RGB, just turn it off in the bios!

1 week to go. Should be sitting here with a 3900x in my hands this time next week :D

I am almost convinced on the motherboard I want. But I really want to hold off for reviews first :)

If they don't actually launch til Sunday, I would've thought you'd be lucky to get one until the end of next week?!
