*** AMD "Zen 4" thread (inc AM5/APU discussion) ***

is it really worth my trying out my other 7600X ?
could be

Will throw in random 2 cents:
I have a completely stable, CO tuned 7700X in Gigabyte B650M Elite
Yesterday changed one setting that made it start crashing in games. And games only, my normal suite of stability tests didn't pick it up.
All I did is change CPU Load Line Calibration from Normal (minimum) to Medium as a test. I know LLC is not necessary on AMD, and is meant more for all-core overclocking (and even then buildzoid hates it). But didn't expect to get instability from it.

Had similar experience on previous 5800X too.
Worth a try to turn LLC off maybe?

if it was an ASUS board, I'd be amazed :)

do you have EXPO enabled?

im going to install the iGPU driver
currently on that no PCI cards
and im getting random glitches , kuje chrome freezing or closing on its own

If you look at forum posts about any platform it will be mostly issues because that's what people post about, like you say. I don't know whether AM5 is really any different or has more issues than any other platform at this stage tbh? Mine was all plug and play not a single problem.
I expect a few teething problems with a new platform but there does seem to be a lot of memory compatibility problems and even some LAN chipset issues with some boards, which you would have expected them to be ironed out by now.
I`ve never had an AMD CPU so it will be interesting if I do get one of the X3D CPU`s.

XMP enabled and timings tuned. SOC voltage lowered, fclk raised to brink of stability.

From my memory ASUS level 1 LLC is lowest, try that. It's a long shot but who knows.
And thats why I say trying another CPU could solve it. Its stock curve could be more robust to voltage droop.

Disable "Medium Load Boostit" in the BIOS, when I had it on Firefox crashed the PC, only when using power saver mode but worth a try.

thank you both

I don't want to get into the situation where i can not return anything
the CPU would be one of those potentially

i still think i need to try a different branded motherboard, i really think its asus boards in general at the moment
i know they will get better though

I have been lucky, my PC has been 99% solid. Have seen a post on ASUS Rog forum about the X670E-F crashing and random restarts but overall it seems like RAM issues are the most common problem so far.

may have seen a little

have googled stuff

I think im giving up, going to send back the new motherboard and CPU

keep my old X670

put the PC all back together
stay on default settings in bios and keep checking updates

if the board was faulty, id RMA it, but its not unfortunately, just bloody unstable

Disable "Medium Load Boostit" in the BIOS, it worth a try, seen a few posts where disabling this helped stop crashes. Also, Disable Multiplane Overlay (MPO) using RegEdit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Dwm\OverlayTestMode

thanks
i did Disable "Medium Load Boostit" in the BIOS one

but i do have iGPU back on, my 3090 is back in, LLC to 1
still crashing

now i don't know if iGPU drivers should be uninstalled
but tbh i don't think it will make any difference

come on ASUS bring out 905

just sitting here idling in windows (Bios on Default)

and i heard the fans spin up, then it rebooted its self

odd

anyone have any idea when the new Asus bios is going out ?
maybe when the new amd CPUs do ?

Slightly interesting (but not really) I noticed my memory isn't on the QVL? list thing and wonder if that is why my PC always ended up failing to boot after a while. Though memtest never gave any errors.

Mine is: GSKILL: F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5RK

The only two GSKILL on there similar are:
F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5RS
F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5NR

Mind you, if the last part of the model just signifies colour or something then that is unlikely.

believe me , I've had 4 weeks of headaches with AM5
tried 3 different RAM

it wont be your RAM

Yeah probs not. Anyway, I don't overclock or set the DOCP thingy and no issues. Worth it for simpler life. Plus I guess when I get the 3d CPU the mem speed matters even less than it currently does.

memory retraining has to be enabled as that will sometimes make your pc not to boot , also soc voltage has to be set most likely manually i have mine at 1.4v as anything bellow will give me errors
