*** AMD "Zen 4" thread (inc AM5/APU discussion) ***

memory retraining has to be enabled as that will sometimes make your pc not to boot , also soc voltage has to be set most likely manually i have mine at 1.4v as anything bellow will give me errors

Quite possibly and something I've not tried. I have set it manually to 1.4 and so far not had the boot issue. Will report back if/when it happens.

The latest MSI AM5 bios just released doesn't just add x3d support. It adds a new feature called high efficiency memory mode - when it enabled the bios automatic tightens those super loose secondary timings on your DDR5 memory and early benchmarks show it improves bandwidth by 15% and reduces latency by 10% compared to standard XMP/Expo timings.

Not sure if other brands have the same new feature.

The benchmark testing referenced above was done using 32gb DDR5 with bios set to XMP 6000 30-36-36-96. After enabling high efficiency mode and booting, Aida64 showed 15% higher memory bandwidth and 10% lower memory latency

I just updated, very stressful, flashback is a POS on the B650e. I updated from inside the BIOS.
First boot seemed to be stuck, yellow led(code15) was on for a min or 2, then it moved on and booted.

In the end I did. I originally went with a Gene, but swapped it over for a Hero just because I felt mATX was too much of a compromise for my 4090. Still thought the Gene was pretty awesome, if a little odd. Should have been more like £400 and have more fan headers…
I will regret not getting the Hero forever, should have just ignored my head and said **** the extra £300.
