AMD Zen 5 rumours

GN's thumbnail is "TRY AGAIN" and a disappointed looking Steve with a subtitle of "Get It Together, Intel" . HUB's "ARROW IN THE KNEE LAKE" and whatever expression Steve is making with the subtitle of "It's A Mess.... Probably A Flop"

He won't be happy humbug wants intel to stepped and kicked and humiliated whilst it's on the floor

I am trying to decide what Cpu to get. It's been a minute since I have owned an AMD cpu the last was a 5950x. So I understand the 9800X3d is a 8 core chip primarily aimed at gamers. And the 9950x3D is a 16 core chip is aimed more towards someone who needs more multi core performace aka more productivity based.

What I wanted to know would the 9950x3D have at least the same kind of gaming performance more or less as the 9800X3d. Just trying to see if the 9950x3D would be the best choice for me, giving me the best of both worlds.

With the 7000 series, the 7950X3D performs pretty much the same as the 7800X3D in games, though it can be a little more inconsistent, due to having 2 CCDs and only one getting the cache. The exception is the 7900X3D, which generally performs a bit worse in games than either of the other two.

The 9000 may have different characteristics, so it is really hard to say right now if you're making any kind of compromise or if it will need some level of micro-management.

Yeah the chip that really interests me is the 12 core 9900x3D. It would be a perfect middle ground for me if they improved the gaming performance over the 7900x3D.

Anyone know when the announcement today is?, I expect a rash of 5800 and 7800 on MM 5 mins after announcement
I do not think there is an announcement today. It was announced via AMD's X account earlier in teh week with teh only real information being launched 7th Novemebr and featuring 2nd Generation of 3D Cache

9900x3d might end up being quite a nice little chip this go round rather than the ugly duckling, if its confirmed 3d v cache on both chiplets and with the recent inter-chip latency reduction microcode.

If the 9900X3D dose come with 3d cache on both chiplets, that's what I plan to get.

I wouldn't get anything before seeing proper tests of that. 7900x3D was usually considerably slower in games than 7800x3D as 6 cores with 3d vcache just weren't enough for many games and inter CCD communication is always comparatively slow, cache or not.
