AMD Zen 5 rumours

Yeah the chip that really interests me is the 12 core 9900x3D. It would be a perfect middle ground for me if they improved the gaming performance over the 7900x3D.
It would be nice if they did, the 7900X3D actually looks decently priced now that the 7800X3D has gone up £100+.

I have pretty much decided given the rumours and hype I will be getting a 9800x3D on release day minimum. When the benches and stuff is released and it shows the 9950X3D to be more or less on par with the 9800X3D gaming wise but with more multi core performance then I will get the 9950X3D.

Even with the performance upgrade I will get ,tbh what I am most looking forward to is the more reasonable power draw. After using the the 5950x and going to the 12900k>13900k>14900k I can't be azzed with the insane power/heat that increased with each iteration. I remember the 5950x being like 120 odd watts or thereabout (please correct me if I am wrong) then it goes like 300w, 350w and then an eye watering 400W respectively if they were left to their own devices. My 4090 at 70% power limit draws 300w ish. Even stock they draw like for the most part 350-370W.

Roll On November 7th. I haven't been this excited for a Cpu since few years now. I am literally bouncin' with anticipation.

So glad I upgraded from the 5800X3D to 7950X3D a few months ago instead of waiting for the 9950X3D, because I seriously doubt they’ll be much more than 5 to 10 percent quicker going by the current non-3D ones, and Intel is a bit of a flop.
That's exactly what I did myself, also few months ago. I chose a good moment when hype caused 7950x3D to be barely more expensive than 7800x3D at that point in time - I'm still very happy about that. And performance is really good, considerably better for me then 5800x3D could provide outside pure gaming, for sure. :)

Boo - I was expecting the announcement / potential pre-orders today… if the price was right, from my side.

What timings are people thinking for that?

to be honest if anyone can find 7800x3d or 7950x3d cheap enough should just upgrade to those, not worth 8-10% performance increase for the price you will pay.

9900x3d might end up being quite a nice little chip this go round rather than the ugly duckling, if its confirmed 3d v cache on both chiplets and with the recent inter-chip latency reduction microcode.
Agree - If it does indeed have the 3d cache on both sides, then it all comes down to the inter-CCD latency... I'd love an upgrade over my chip but depending which review you look at the gap still isn't enough.... just want a new shiny thing!

I'm going die the 9800X3D with 64GB 6000mhz memory leaning towards an X670e rather than a X870e board saves about £100
Agree, £100 for a few usb 4 ports. I'm so glad I bought a 670e when they came out. Yes they were expensive, but I feel I'm getting my money's worth out of it after the 870e release.

I have tons of spare parts in my house so all I needed to buy is the CPU and motherboard. I think I really gonna enjoy this build. It been years since I last got hyped for it.

I am also considering selling my 12900k setup and building another AMD setup. It's tempting not gonna lie.
