ill hold out for the x3d chip, im not playing their silly dipping game
Seeing as "should I upgrade my 5600/5700/5800 to 5700X3D/5800X3D" must be one of the most popular forum threads/questions/issues in the last few months, apparently it worksTrying to hook double dippers
I’m going to hold out for the x3d too. Only reason I didn’t last time is I was building a whole new system, this time I think I’m just going to upgrade the CPU and my GPU.ill hold out for the x3d chip, im not playing their silly dipping game
Trying to hook double dippers
The 7950X had a large price drop the day before I got one, think it was £200. AMD always drops the prices after a month or two. They might be overpriced when first released so it could be a good idea to wait and see what Intel releases first, as they might try milking before then.

This makes sense, the distinction between B650E and B650 has always been confusing and there's a large gap between A620 and B650, so hopefully the trash boards will get the B840 label.Confirm the new budget chipset is B840, it replaces B650 and interestingly it says B840 does not support OC. If you want to overclock you have to get a X870
Hmm, x870 needed for EXPO 8000mhz kits, according to those leaks. Wonder what % performance loss we'll see between X870 8000Mhz EXPO (which presumably reviewers will use, as it's plug and plug) vs x670 boards limited to lower speeds?
I'm aware some 2 DIMM X670e boards can OC/EXPO to 8000 as well, though these are in the minority.
from the results I have seen 6000mhz vs 8000mhz is not worth the hassle. I assume the new cup with new bios will allow the x670 platform to adopt similar speeds more consistently and attaint higher speeds was not a motherboard problem but finicky cup's. I honestly don't see the point of x670 owners upgrading to x870 unless I am missing something? USB4 is not enough of a feature to warrant it.That's quite a difference, I have my 7950x with 6000mhz memory, so 8000mhz would be very nice.
Cynical rebranding of the A840A(not A840) as it uses Promontory 19.More gigabyte leaks

Gigabyte confirms new B840 chipset: no CPU OC support and no PCIe Gen5 - VideoCardz.com
AMD B840 chipset replaces the cheaper B650 series Gigabyte leak has confirmed a new chipset for the upcoming AM5 Ryzen CPUs. AMD will introduce at least four new chipsets for its AM5-based CPUs. The X670E and X670 chipsets will be succeeded by the X870E and X870, respectively. The Extreme...videocardz.com
The A620 chipset leverages the new Promontory 21 silicon, while the A620A chipset is based on the previous Promontory 19 silicon, presumably the same one that powers the B550 chipset. Therefore, A620A is essentially a relabeled B550. A620 and A620A are almost identical in terms of features. The key differentiator lies in the speed of the chipset uplink.
As always with AMD of late give them a few months for pricing to settle down, they take the right **** at first. This means the B840 will probably replace the current B650 in price, and the B850 will be jacked up in price to where the B650E is located.
