AMD Zen 5 rumours

I think they normallt drop on the day at around 2PM
I have everything ready to upgrade now except the CPU, board and Ram but despite pricing on the boards dropping recently I don’t want to commit to anything yet in case there is some bonus features baked into the new board series.
There is also talk of dynamic frequency switching for ram depending on the workload while if the new boards can easily support above 8000mhz then running higher speed 2-1 may also overcome the latency penalty for additional gains.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, you'll give them ideas....Let's hope they don't increase in price because what's happening with intel
yeah right , we never get these prices. Just on the preorder or launch days was wondering - have ocuk staff stopped posting on the forums? Just remember it used to happen a lot around these times.
They do post less than they used to, but they're still around.

If those prices are true that will be another kick in the teeth for Intel though it will probably be £1 to $1 for us although the pound is the strongest it's been for quite a while right now. I am still going to wait for the 3d cpu's though, the motherboard bios's will have matured a bit by then as well.

x3d has never been the flagship cpu of the range. Flagships of last few gens were 5950x, then 7950x, now 9950x.

So why is there flagship 7950x CPU cheaper then a 7950X3D
I thought the 7950X3D was meant to be faster & better then the 7950x
Good thing i went with intel i as really no understand the AMD cpu naming these days

I was thinking more along the lines of the previous version x3d cpu's, they referred to the 5950 etc as the flagship up until the 7000 series, the 7950 was considered the flagship cpu til the x3d arrived. If you look around at articles on the 9 series a lot of them are calling the 9950 the flagship cpu, until the 3d version arrives that is.
So is the new 9950x meant to be faster for gaming then the 7950X3D or do we have to wait for the new 9 series X3D cpu's to get released ?
Or does no one know the answer to this yet

Have to wait for reviews for that answer, though id guess the 7 series x3d's will be a bit faster in gaming if not on par.
Genuinely could see memory speed being a deciding factor in that really. The x3d chips have been less reliant on memory speed, and apparently the 9000 series will have better support for higher ram speed. So might be that 9000 with slow ram slower than 7000 x3d but with fast ram the same or slightly better.
But this is pure speculation that has just popped into my poor sleep deprived brain when I saw that question. And might reread this in thr morning and think I'm completely wrong.
