Examples may include assembly and C/C++.

My expectation is another Bulldozer, and it's staying that way until it's on shelves and in home PCs and being benchmarked by actual people. If it turns out to be good, that's a nice surprise :)

3570k is a great CPU, though. Where is it letting you down?

Do you even know where you are?
It's all enthusiasts with nothing else to spend their money on and somehow think having a 5% increase with no real world application will validate their existence. Or something.

Things are sounding promising so far...this could be the real deal!

I had decided that my next upgrade would be a 6 core CPU as I run flight sims and also do some video transcoding. I had my sights set on Coffee Lake later this year, now it looks like there could be more of a choice.

Exciting times.

We know what every SKU will be unlocked but do we know yet if every SKU will have SMT enabled? For example, they might offer a 6c/6t CPU which'd probably match or beat Intel's 4c/8t offerings in multi-threaded scenarios.

It appears Ryzen has a 55% IPC increase over Excavator instead of the touted 40% according to AMD:

I don't understand why that would be taken as anything other than unsubstantiated rumour.

Confirmed ES demonstrations and benchmarks seem to fit in the 40-45% IPC improvement range. That's exceeding AMD's target.

I can't see them just hitting the 'engage magic' button in BIOS and performing miracles.
