*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Got a dispatch email from another retail for the Crosshair VI Hero today, no go for the CPU (no stock and no delivery date, even though I pre-ordered) so I pushed an order through OCUK that have stock on the 1800x.

Fingers crossed I finally get everything by the weekend to build the rig. :)

Best of British with the board. My advice would be to seek out the latest beta bios at the time and flash it before you do anything else on the MB.

Good luck ; ;

Anyone see this update? (Scratch that, date is 1 year old) :mad:

Fingers crossed it doesn't bork out on me, as an RMA would be a nightmare.

K7 would be my next choice I think. Just a pain as I want to use my H105 as its been great since I have had it and it seems corsair are making the AM4 adapters for it by hand, using only a nail file.

haha, made me laugh out laud in the office. cheap Air cooler for testing in the mean time ?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £8.73
(includes shipping: £2.74)

nothing special but always good to have a back-up for mobo/ AIO RMA :)

I'm far too lazy to rebuild the PC more then I really need to. I just had a quick look at AIO coolers and there is no choice at all that work with AM4 at the moment other then a couple of corsair ones that would basically be a side step from mine ( If there were any with 280/360 rad then I could justify it). Bloody computers, who needs the sodding things.

I grabbed the Thermaltake Ultimate Water 3.0 360mm rad, but I'm pairing it with a Asus Crosshair VI (AM3 holes). Thermaltake hasn't announced anything about AM4 brackets for their current AIOs.

Plenty of choice if you are getting a crosshair ( as I have on order at the moment), issue is if you don't want that board due to the high chance (seems that way) of getting one that's made of bricks.

i think beQuiet are quick to get out the AM4 brackets to owners :) have the AM4 brackets myself . mounting is a bit of a pain to be honest and the correct way to mount it wasnt on the first batch of instructions lol

Very high chance yes, but I need all those USB ports (VR,FFW,controller etc), so fingers crossed a non-brick Bios comes out :p. The only problem I had with Asus was on the Z170 chipset boards being a pain.
