*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

Don't want to tread on my colleagues toes but if the board falls faulty within 30 days (DOA) period you're entitled to a refund or a replacement and should be given the option. IF it's what you want ask for it.

Yeah, I've just had a message from Alex now saying the state of the RMA has been changed to refund once it's sent back and assessed. I've just been a bit of a sourpuss today and was worrying for no reason as I'm let down by Asus.

To be clear (as I said in the message) thanks for keeping the customer service great here at OcUK.

There is plenty of grumpy going around, but I guess we can't hold OcUK accountable for the lack of motherboards and some of them dying. Really impressed that @Gibbo, @8-Pack and @TwsT are contributing to these threads with helpful info, it's making the pain of waiting for the mobos more bearable :D

Wish the Asrock boards would hurry up and arrive though, I see a competitor has revised theirs to Friday instead of today, I'm guessing the same with OcUK as I've not had a shipping email yet :(

Sounds like quite a few motherboard issues at the moment....

Worst board i ever had was an Asus 680i chipset one. I suspect it was more down to the chipset than the brand. It was an absolutely shocking piece of junk though :( kept burning memory sticks and resetting for no apparent reason.

Not seen much of Asrock boards, almost as if Asrock them self are holding them till they feel ready to realease them haha, thus far not seen a single bench posted from a Asrock board.
Maybe I'm blind.

guessing nobody knows when what is coming in?

it is dual sided 8 each side yes, however it appears that the C6H is unique in liking this memory, most other asus boards do not. :S they prefer Single sided. So at present i do not know.

That's rather interesting, thought just about all of these ryzen boards disliked dual sided... unless maybe it's still single ranked?
Thanks for all info and help btw :)

Oh dear!

Guess that also included all games benchmarks in reviews are invalided.

Just ban Gigabyte boards for using old AGESA and make mainboard tab mandatory for AM4 submissions. Not sure about MSI or ASRock but it's not possible to do this on ASUS.

I seriously think with any AMD launch you need +3 months added to the launch to actually get an accurate picture!! :p

Thx for the news Cat

Looks like we better all jump on Win 7 with are Ryzens then ....i have a load of coa keys if needed :)

Been too busy past few days with work and was hoping to do my tests with 7 & 10 today but is looking like tomorrow now

7 vs 10 basically with Ryzen

I had some disappointment with Ryzen regarding performance in certain lightly threaded games I play, but after I looked over the updates I keep making to the review thread about new issues,it makes me wonder whether its the rushed nature of the launch which is somewhat hampering Ryzen - its like death by a 1000 cuts.

This would only be considered if benchmarking, unless you've misunderstood the post

Mine will do 4.0ghz stable on the Gaming 3.

The jump in voltage just isn't worth it though IMHO 3.6 @ 1.18v -> 3.9 @ 1.31v -> 4ghz @ 1.42v

These just seem to hit a wall past 3.9 where they need a lot of extra voltage for another 100mhz

That's fine for me. As long as it can push 4ghz for future I'll be happy. I'm likely to leave it at stock with boost anyway for the meantime. For what I want the cpu to do it's going to blow my I5 away at stock anyway but I will overclock at some point.
