At first initial glance does not seem to add a lot for another $100 (£100) except wifi (and is that a 90 degree power connector?). Will be interested to see if parallel development still occurs with the Hero, I hope so. Current Hero spec board is still the current best bet for overclocking IMO.

There's a 90 degree ATX connector, more headers down the bottom as they've moved the buttons and the chipset heatsink is different (bigger?)

What's the difference?
Is that just the CH6 with the WiFi module and things moved about?

Yeah it only really adds Wifi, USB 3.0 headers, and a 90 degree 24 pin; but it's EXTREME! So that's worth the extra £100

I have v5.39 & v4.24 - the first one fails to boot higher that 2666Mhz second one is stuck @2933Mhz. Going from i7 860 my minimum & maximum fps improved a bit. Also the overall room temperature has dropped considerable. During the heat with outside temps of 32 degrees my CPU was running at 95 degrees with Bequiet cooler.
I have 4.24, they're on e-die. 4 sticks running nice on CL14 3200 on my CH6. But had to set 1.45V on memory and 1.15 soc

Just tried with 1,45V and no post. 3066Mhz maximum that i managed to load to windows. With 16-18-18-54 tim.
Would 3066Mhz be more beneficial or 2933 with CL14 timings?

Run benchmarks with both and see which works better for you.

The IF is linked to memory speed so may depend on the task which one works best.

The complete opposite happens when people are not using ancient engines that use 1 or 2 cores. I posted a pubg streaming video a while back and the 1800x was quicker than even the 7820x whilst spanking the 7700k.

The 1800x winning is the complete opposite to the 1700 winning? The video shows the 1700 as the better streaming option?

huh? didn't watch the whole video - just jumped to the end but he summed up by saying the 1700 was the better recommendation for streaming than gaming or am I miss understanding?

that's what I thought?!

I is a confused puppy! :confused::p

Your right, i skipped most of it. It was 5am!!
Forgive me please :)
yea no probs lol
in fairness I jumped to about mid way and he seemed to be pointing out numbers that indicated that the 7700k was far superior, it was at this point I was a tad confused and just bailed to the end to hear his conclusions.

I'm far from a fanboy. I didn't watch the whole thing. In fact I only saw the dirt results. I was in a rush.

think maybe your post was misconstrued. having read quite a few of your previous posts across the various threads something tells me your the least likely person to be classed as a fanboy.

Thanks buddy :)

Whats more poignant about that embarassing video from that Steve Burke (the clues in his name tbh) is he pretty much does all he can to make the tests favour Intel, but the power is just not there for the Intel CPU, admittedly more cores is always going to beat higher clocks and lower core count in this type of test.

I really detest that dude, its so blatantly obvious if you watch his stuff he is so dismissive of AMD and pro Intel / Nvidia and thats not just me as an AMD fan saying it, many people have pointed this out.

Even though he OC'd the 7700k and left the 1700 at stock (seriously, who does that?) the 1700 still won... what i dont get is, if your going to OC one CPU why not both? simply stating "Well the 1700 is going to win, but lets see how the 7700k OC's fares" etc is rubbish, OC them both so you can actually see how much better OC'd the 1700 is? or is he afraid of the result and what Intel will say to him even more?

the guys a moron, end of.

I just don't like the style of the videos. I zone out of what he's saying because it's just way too much information. You don't need to quickly quote loads of numbers to 1-2 decimal points in a confusing manner, that's the point of the on-screen graphics. Just summarise what the graphs show man, not the numbers behind them.
