*** AMD "Zen" thread (inc AM4/APU discussion) ***

The New APUs just got me thinking about Small Form Factor Cases, You know the ones with very small Low Profile PCI-e brackets, Since will not need a GPU

I doubt it, you would make more money spending that money of GPUs.

That's debatable.

Using NiceHash the Ryzen 1950X has more hashing power than a GTX 1080, about .0026 vs .0024, with power consumption calculations equated it earns $100 per month vs $95 per month on the GTX 1080.

How much is the GTX 1080 and how much is the 1950X?

And what about the motherboard and RAM you would need for the TR? They're not cheap either. GPU mining you can pick them up for peanuts.

True but then you have a usable platform that can be used for almost anything. A gpu is games or mining with nothing inbetween. (Excluding fire pro levels of cards)
If gpus keep increasing in price then I see threadripper becoming more and more popular for mining.

If AMD were to make mining based dual TR4 socket boards crammed with PCIe3 slots and at a reasonable price they might be onto to something.

I don't know how many PCIe slots one can cram onto a board but for 1 GPU mining you only need 1 PCIe lane, a dual socket Threadripper has 128.

Doesn't make much sense since since Raven Ridge is meant to be 14 nm.

Nah, it's 14nm zen+ (so some improvements but still on 14nm LPP litho). Fugger replied to me on reddit:

So, the 4.5ghz RR leak is probably his and probably under his chilly1 built, 3 stage cascade.

basically - nothing to see here, it's a 14nm Zen+ core being pushed hard under good cooling. We still don't know what RR can do with standard cooling until tomorrow.

All this talk of the new APUs has reminded me, did anything ever come of the Fenghuang rumours? Thought it might be the hades canyon chips at one point but the number of cores and amount of hbm2 memory didnt match.

Ya, lol Intro, Them Scam PSUs
Ah that guy don't do Unboxing
We don't like unboxing fancy reviewer kits because they are a blatant play at influence and marketing, and provide no end value to the customer, as it cannot be purchased.
