An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Please help me!!! I cant get any further unless i get help on this :)

Its the same as my previous post but i didnt really get anything helpful.

HIGHLIGHT below.

Im now at the part where i have to find a daedric relic so i can piece together stuff to go to this "paradie", ive just done a treck to this Azura shrine.

Theres 3 blokes there, none of them do anything and im stuck and dont know what to do next any help would be great.

Ive tired talking to the 3 people nearby. 2 of them wont talk to me and the other person doesnt tell me anything useful.

Hitting spacebar on the shrine says "nothing happens"

Thanks :)

To the post above: bribe the 3rd character. I usually bribe to get disposition to around 60 - then they're happy and volunteer info. Oh, and you need to be lvl 2 as well, although you might get the quest if you're not - not sure.

I wondered up there yesterday and found some nice items in the forts and caves. Picked up a nice fortified heavy weapon somewhere outside of Anvil, which should ultimately be delivered to Meara (sp) but no idea where this person is - no markers come up.

Also, how do books work wrt skill increases. Do you just read them and job done, or do they have to stay in your inventory (and not deposited in one of your houses)?

Is it normal to go up 2 levels in one sleep?

I just killed Rufio to initiate into the dark brotherhood, and also did the "Caught in the hunt" quest. I seem to have jumped from level 2 to 3 just before Lucien shows up, and then after he went I went up from 3 to 4 !!

Also found some random church another fort with conjurers in it, and a lair with skeletons in it and bag a stack of varla and welkynd stones ;) In that church there were 2 necromancers. Evil so and so's. Obviously met with my blade of justice (my own enchanted dai'katana blade ;) )

Cool !!

Nice one, how the heck does this bribe thing work? i click the head logo then this thing appears with humour, jokes e.t.c with the number in the middle.

I have no idea how to work it properly, i just randomly clikc on the red/ornagey cone bits that spin around.

Some help about that would be great!

Check their facial reactions to each reply once you start, the idea is to click on the large wedges when they have a positive response and the small wedges for a negative, you can only click each response once so pay attention to the order of the wedges because they rotate once clockwise each time you choose one. Repeat until they like you :)

This will also increase your speechcraft, a journeyman has the option to rotate the wedges once per round.

Certainly is. I've gone from lvl 2 to lvl 6 because I was sleeping 'rough' outside as opposed to an inn bed or guild bed (or your own house when you buy them).

Just below the spinning wheel thing are 3 options - one of them bribe. Do this a couple of times and disposition will go near 60, costing circa 10 gold a time. A lot easier.

If you are in the Mage's guild you can make a 100pt Charm spell that lasts like 1 or 2 sec then when you talk to them their disposition is maxed at 100. Works well with 100pt Mercentile spell when buying/selling things to NPCS!

Are there any soul gems better than Grand?

The spellmaking feature is good fun, but the enchanting seems a little lackluster. Like you can only make things have a stat boost of 10pts max I found. Do I need to find better items to enchant, or better soul gems?

Right now enchanting seems useless compared to finding loot, since that often has better stats. Shrouded Armour for instance has loads of +8 stats at once.

Got the azura star (think thats what its called) for a quest from Azura - temple is near the blind moth monastery. Haven't trapped a soul for it yet so cant say what charge it holds.

I think my character attribute choices were a bit weak. :(

Speechcraft is one of my main skills. :p I'm like level 60 at it (my highest attribute). What are the advantages of speechcraft compared to someone who is crap at it...?

Also... WHERE IS UMBRA AT?!?! :D:p

Speechcraft increases NPCs starting disposition towards you, the various levels make it easier to play the persuasion minigame. Its useful, but charm spells are just as good or better (Illusion school I think which has other useful stuff).

Umbra Spoiler
Umbra is in a ruin SW of Imperial City, just across the water (Vahcaten?). Small ruin, but she is very tough, regenerates health quickly so you will need a fast-hitting, high-damage weapon. Was a challenge for me at level 15.

SLI performance

has anyone tried Oblivion with an SLI setup ? will SLI improve performance at 1280x1024 (maximum my monitor will do) ?

btw, that is 2x 256Mb 7800GTX 's :)

Check the thread in the graphics card section about oblivion benchmarking. :)

What is the level cap in Oblivion? I haven't heard it mentioned yet?

Depends on what your major skills start at, add them up, take that away from 700 and divide by 10 - usually around level 50/51.

Possible that you could go to jail repeatedly or do something else to lower your scores and level up again, but I've not seen anything to say that is definitely doable.

But it really doesnt matter what level u get, as every enemy, even the humble rat, levels with you, so it will be no easier or harder when your really high.

Have been wondering if you level up at say +3, +3, +2, and not the magical +5, do the 'monsters' level up as the same as you or do they just get +5 in everything. Or is it not relevent?
