An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

I found something yesterday which is cool. If you steal more than one of the same armour and keep the pile of them in your invent, equip one and the rest of the items don't have that red hand stolen sign on them but uneuipe the item and the pile appears stolen again so tried this and it works. Go to a container and equip one of the stolen items now put the rest of the pile in the container and the red hand stolen sign is removed from the items that are put in the container forever. yay

You could try it with diferent items. I found this out on my own I'm so clever. hehe :D

And finally.... how do you kill Wil-O-Wisps!?! They are invincible (and I was using a enchanted weapon.)

That one had me flumoxed for a few minutes last night, then I twigged the trick.
Courtesy of vampirism I have the Hunter Sight spell (but any life detect spell will do the trick). I cast this, which allowed me to always see precisely where the wisps were, then I just cast fireballs at them. Occasionally I'd spawn a scamp to do some extra damage. Mainly I guess I spent more time running away whilst waiting for magika to recharge so I could fire off more fireballs.
In the area I came up against them it was a nice dungeon / castle ruins, and I found a very nice point where I could leap from one side to another over the path, wheras the wisps had to take the stairs.

Im getting really into this game now.. I have started a few differnet save games.. (i saved before you leave the sewers so I can just alter my character)

At the moment I am a High Elf and currently on level 11 @ 5h 35mins play time..

basicly I left the sewers and went right to the main city and rented a room for a night and practiced spells and stuff.

i am journeyman on all my major skills (magic ones) all my skill stats are 50 or just above...

might start to join the mages guild and get me into Uni.....:D

EDIT: No cheats or console commands were used at all.

Im a lvl 19 marksman type character now, and thought I'd have a pop at Umbra seeing as I read someone took her at lvl 15. Heres me thinking Ok this shouldn't be too hard, but then I get there, and BOOM! How hard is she! Her super-fast running makes kiting terrible, even though it's the only thing I can do, her health regen is stupid, impossible to get the last part of her hp off.

But, the worst bit about her is her INSANE attacks, the last try I had against her, I must have had about 3/4 hp, she does a normal swing, boom, half health, but then, she does this crazzy backhand swing and takes the rest of my health away! What is that about? I tried blocking and using swords after her attacks, but the shield did next to nothing, and she took almost the same amount of hp off as if I had no shield at all. Anyone provide me with some help please?

If your a marksman, jump up on one of the pillars :p. I didn't have too much difficulty at level 17 (straight warrior-type) or so with a nice enchanted sword, but I took her down at level 7 with a nice 33 frost/fire/shock damage staff as my latest character. Some of the nice magic arrows would work well if you have them, you just need a fast- and hard-hitting attack of some kind.

I didn't really want to use the pillar trick, and my enchanted arrows are at home. But I used that jumping trick in the arena, so I guess I've ruined my game so it won't matter again! :p

Is anyone getting a problem whereby the screen goes black while they're playing, i cant find anything on google.

I can still see the HUD and everything is normal, but i just cant see the 'world'. The best i can describe it is as if my character has gone blind. Not quite sure what is causing it, but its seems to happen more when i have Bittorrent on while playing.

Any help would be appreciated!

As said it is probably down to HDR being enabled. I have this but it doesn't bother me too much now. I just keep a notepad window open so I can alt+tab out of the game. Make sure you press ` before alt+tabbing as it can cause problems if you don't. You can go straight back to the game and it should be back to normal.

I must say, with the amount of people asking some of the basic questions covered in the manual, you have to wonder....

Anyways, bought this yesterday, and I must say, it is YUM!

Runs fine on my machine too :D

Made my own class which is a close to the Ranger class in D&D, bows, light armor, healing and alteration, smallish blades and a bit of jump-skippity-sneak :)

Level 2 and done the castle chorrol quest and dusted some vamps in some ruins nearby :D

Guys that bug a told you about don't do it it. It cause the game to crash out to windows. I tried to put the rest of the stolen pile in another contain after I'd removed the stolen sign on one and when I put the rest of the stolen ones in my stolen item barrel the game crashes. Oh no

i think people who brought from direct2drive got no manual! the version with the manual was marked up as US only, where as the version with-out wasn't and i think that's the version a few folk here brought.

got to say, it's turned out to be an epic.. just under 200 hours played, level 38 and i just started the main quest last night :o

Wow, that's some hours clocked up.

I've played about 60 hours now, and just finished the main quest and the mages guild.

Not done any fighters/darkbrotherhood and very little theives, so that's my next move.
