An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Hoping to play this around medium, what do you think?

I think your going to be struggling to be honest :( I hope I'm wrong! Even on medium settings I'm guessing that due to the seamless nature of the world the 512 Ram will cause some clunkiness, hell I think 1Gig is barely sufficient!

My fingers r crossed to play this on high maybe max settings what you think?

they have said that a 1900xt is enough to get it looking like it does/will on a 360, hence how you have seen it in the vids. Ive heard that no one can play it on max settings, the devs tested on uber-rigs and still had like 5fps with max draw distance and aa etc. But itll look damn good, that do you?

Damn ive got loads of stuff to do before I get my hands on this

Buy a Western Digital 36.7GB 10,000RPM drive for windows/games/applications.
Fresh format
format old hard drive.
Buy and install new ram

:(

I'm going to wipe my hardrive as well. Going to buy some more ram as well as I only have 512 at the moment. Not sure how much difference 1gb and 2gb will make to this game though?

I don't play many PC games anymore so its pretty much on how well Oblivion will handle the extra ram. Nothing worse than having to turn down settings on a game like this (especially Draw Distance).

Until we have the game in our hands it's hard to tell if 2gig will make much difference over 1, but I'd suggest 1gig would definately make a large difference over 512 in nearly all scenarios, even just day to day useage in windows.

I upgraded from 1 gig to 2, but haven't noticed much of a real world increase in most areas.

Cheers I think I'll just get 1 gig then. Do the better timings on some of the sticks of ram justify the high price tag or should i just go for say OcUk value?

If it’s a difference of just a few FPS then I'll just go for the cheaper alternatives

hmmm well ive overclocked my cpu from 2.8 ghz to 3.0 ghz and my graphics card I unlocked the pipes (6800) and overclocked the 512 ram I've got now.

What speed are you currently running your ram at? And does your motherboard has memory dividers?

If your motherboard has memory dividers just get the cheap stuff and use a divider to run it near stock, but if you can't do that, ask in the memory forum for recommendations of which ram to get (and tell them what speed you need it to run at).

Gamespot get a hands on on the 20th, if ** a subscriber then yay for you :P
Not convinced I'd want to watch a 12 hour feed of someone playing a game. May as well just wait a few dys until we have it for ourselves :)

512mb = low texture details/draw distance
1gb medium
2gb high

Thats how BF2 and FEAR work (for me) anyway. BF2 and FEAR would stutter intermittently with 1gb on mostly high settings.
