An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

yer, when you end the main quest all the gates shut.. so don't rush the story if you want to shut as many gates as you can, to milk the rewards.

What are the rewards you can milk from them? To be honest I avoid them like the plague. They're just a PITA for me, so I've been carrying on with other quests and the like instead.

hi there, got stuck again ...
there is this quest ' unfriendly competition ' or something...i have to folow thoromir after he has closed his show...usually he goes to the merchants inn first and then meeting some other guys ( a trapper ). I suspect him to trade with thieves and such ( allthough i am one myself...) so i followed him EVERYwhere, then talked to th epeeps he talked to, i even followed that trapper for quite a while...nothing works ! when i go to their meetingplace ( the liittle garden ) i find a hollow piece of tree, but nothings in it. i cant ask thoromir anything allthough the questmarker ( lil green arrow in the compas ) keeps marking him...what to do?

In the meeting place, you have to get quite close (i too didn't do this until later on) to them so that the viewport locks in. It's kinda like a CGI cutscreen type thing. AFter this, you will be given more stuff to do in the quest.

Sigil stones. Great for enchanting items, if you get a decent sigil stone. Of course, the higher the level you are, the better the sigil stone, and thus the enchanted item, you get.

Got some mannequins with armour and clothes on littered through the house

Mannequins? Where do you get those from? Or are they only in a certain house? I've bought the Bruma and Skingrad house, and upgraded them both fully, but didn't see any mannequins unless I'm being stupid and walked straight past them.

or use a feather spell, they are good to use when making your way to a city to sell what you picked up and it's an honest way to train up the alteration skill.

tip for ATI 6.3 users who can't get HDR+AA working, in CCC be sure that the catalyst AI is on ('standard' is best). i've never seen a use for it 'till now!

Random people in my towns have been turning out to be mythic dawn, ie, all of a sudden a few of start attacking me/other people in the town.
Is anyone else getting this?

I think it's perfectly normal, as I had it too.
It freaked me out the first time, I just stood there, scared to hit them, in case the guards attacked me :(

It's stopped happening now though.

Two questions for ya:

1: Surely I have to carry a huge number of Varla stones around with me as if I use a magic weapon for more than a few fights they discharge. Is using magic weapons actually viable?

2: Are there any good light armours that compare to the heavies? All the screenshots I've seen are showing off uber heavy armour. What about light?

I tend to take a variety of enchanted weapons with me and swap them around, I also use Soul gems to recharge them, I now have enough cash to pay for recharges after each major mission!

I use Glass armour, by being a master in light armour its effectiveness doubles as long as you wear all light. Not sure if this is true of heavy??

At first I thought the oblivion gates were randomely placed, but no there is a set number of them, just wish there was a way of telling on the map which ones I have closed and which ones are still open, think I may try and close every gate in the game, should take ages, I think there about 50 odd gates or more in total.

In a way I hate this games as it stopped me doing my final year uni work for 3 solid days, days i need to be working, funny thing is every time I am finishing certain educational years a decent games comes along that causes me to waste so much time, there should be a warning in the box

"Warning this game will eat away at your time, do not play if you have a job, education in progress, or friends as this may game may seriously affect your life, users play at the own risk" :D

Possible spoiler so please highlight to read:If you get the Azura's star from the Azura shrine quest (you get a map pointer for the azura shrine in the main quest), you get one that has 2500 charge, and is reusable! I carry that around with me all the time. It's great!

For an expert of heavy armour, you don't get encumbered by any of it :D

What level do you start seeing monsters that have grand souls? I'm lvl 17 and I have Azuras star... really want to start enchanting some cool stuff but lacking the powerful souls needed. :)
