An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Skills get harder to level the better at them you get.

As in real life, the better you get, the more effort you need to get even better... the rule of diminishing returns and all that.

Glass armour, nice :p Im still wearing my DB robes etc. until I complete my glass set, nearly done I think. Also found a cool glass shield that shields me by 13% of what I'm guessing is all types of damage. I tried to level my destruction with a shock spell doing 20 damage, but even that took ages, so I just gave up! Considering I don't use magic to do much damage, I use the other schools of magic more, and their easier to level.

Just completed the game inc. all guilds etc :D Have to say the ending is very impressive!

I've done thieves/mages guild, the dark brotherhood, completed the arena, and all the other small guild type things you can join. Now all I have left is the fighters guild and do most of the main storyline.

I did an oblivion gate at kavcth, before joining the mages guild, then i had a quest for them by the time i got to the place the person was all ready dead casue of a gate about 5 feet away from where they where

Hmmm, that's pretty unlucky, did you/did you try respawning the guy via console?

LoL, I had a quest exactly like that. :D Went to the place and there were 2 oblivion gates about 20 in-game seconds from each other, in the middle was the road where a quest was taking place. The place involved 4 other characters having a big fight with 4 fire-helmet oblivion things getting involved. To make matters worse one of the quest characters summoned another fire-helmet thingy! Was absolutely chaotic and I had no idea who I was supposed to kill. :(

Fun though! :D

I realise though, this game is absolutely huge! :o I have done 2 oblivion gates, half-way through the mages and dark brotherhood (not even started Fighters or main storyline!). Also half the map isn't even explored! I went to Chorrol and realised I hadn't actually been anywhere but the mages guild! 76 hours played... I must just be going ultra slowly!

Furthermore I'm now a vampire despite not even actively remebering being bitten, just woke up one day to be told I was a vampire... how could that happen?!

The thing that would make this game a lot better for me however is some more pond-life and lake related discovery. I haven't encountered any enemies in a lake from open play (do they exist) or found anything exciting in the water. :(

So you havent done the fishing quest then, i waited till i was lvl 20 odd for that and lets just say i had to exit the water very quick as those fish was damm hard espically the one that was bugged, swimming about 3 feet above the water couldnt hit it with arrows, magic or swords

One of the many ways this game has been spoilt (IMHO) from MW is that now all your stat boosts/damage are hidden away, so you have to look for them rather than being able to see them on the screen all the time. In MW you could see you had prphyic haemophilia - if you knew what to look for anyway - but in Oblivion I just tend to pray at an alter after every vampire fight just in case.

And yes, the lakes are nearly empty - the small numbers of slaaughterfish seem to be in caves only. I've also seen one land dreugh. Which killed my horse, the little ****.

Ive killed 2 or 3 of those land dreughs, plus i cant pray at the alters at the moment ive been too much of a bad boy :D , suppose thats what i get for getting killing ppl in an inn. Going away to try my hand at converting the colour of the glass armour as soon as i can find my paint shop pro.

An odd concept, completing Oblivion.

Do you mean every last little side quest or 'just' the storyline? :p

Haha, yer that quest is tough all right. Luckily I didn't have that bug you did, but the fish definitely bit hard!

If you've done 2 oblivion gates then you have started the main storyline :p. I've chalked up just over 71 hours and am not that far into the game. Granted, i've completed the mages guild, arena and halfway through the fighters guild and getting through the main quest, but i'm taking it slowly too.

Is that not in the page where it tells you all your buffs and weaknesses you have on at the moment? I'm not 100% sure since i've only ever contracted 3 diseases and instantly cured the disease using a spell, but i do recall seeing it there. I know it's difficult to get to, but i'm sure it's there.

You can find it on one page, but I admit it isn't easy. I think there are many ways it's better/worse than Morrowind. For example I'm glad they have added arrows to the map/compass etc, I found Morrowind too hard with no guidance at all. I think they storyline's and types of quests are better as well.

However, bad things I think are the fact that you are very limited in armour you can wear, like in Morrowind you could wear a robe over armour, which I believe isn't do-able now?

Morrowind was easy as soon as you worked out the trick: compass directions are always precise - if an NPC says "South", then he/she/it means exactly South. Apart from two quests where the dev team couldn't tell West from East. And I liked the fact that you had to search.

And no, you can't wear armour over/under clothes, only instead of.
