An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

The game is great and its running really well on my system at 1280x1024 with Bloom on. I have been playing it for the past 4 hours and I decided to be a Khajit Monk which has been fun up to now. The gfx are amazing especially the outside world.

Just got it going on the wife's PC - her system is the same spec as mine but with an ATi X700 Pro card. It runs nicely at 800x600 no AA and medium textures. The water effects seem to punish it tho - so normal detail instead of high for that. Also haven't tried bloom yet. But it still looks stunning I have to say, so those of you with slightly lower-end cards will still get an amazing looking game :)

Well. I downloaded it from D2D overnight but my file was corrupt. I've contacted them and will be getting a refund due to me not living in the US. I should not have it yet.

On the up side though it is bright and sunny here today /goes to play golf

Did you use WinZIP 9.0 to decompress it? If not then thats why you got the corrupt file message.

LOL - wait till you get outside :p

Yeah - I'm amazed by that myself. Even in the huge outdoor areas the load time are fast. They also break the outdoor areas into "mini loads" - occasionally it will say "loading area" and the game will pause briefly. Doesn't bother the flow at all tho. Really like the way they've done it.

Yeah, I agree. Fortunately it's all very intuitive - especially if you're into RPG's. Tooltips would have been nice tho I must admit. Also, I've yet to find an easy way to get the map up - it can be a pain to have to navigate around just to get the map, but maybe I'm missing something obvious :)
Mine doesn't even pause at all on the "Loading Area" bits (dual Raptors RAID 0), which is nice.

I'm only running it in 1280x720 widescreen for the moment (no AA, bloom on, everything else on high) on my P4 4Ghz/X800 XT... theres a 1920x1200 widescreen option, mmmmmm! Need to upgrade my PC!

My char is a vamp now, can anyone tell me how the hell I'm supposed to bite people? :)

Can I get a hell yea?!?!

Ive got a feeling a lot of people are going to be disapointed with oblivion, we havent had any good games out for a while so lots of people are jumping on this when they might not usually, suckered in by the graphics.

Should be interesting in a few days to see the response from non RPGers :)
